China Energy Storage Network News: "The 'three types and two networks' development strategy is an inevitable choice for the development of power grids and companies. 'Three types' are the basic characteristics of State Grid Corporation after its transformation into an energy Internet company. 'Two networks' are an important material basis for carrying the company's strategy and are also the main focus of the company's new era strategy." Recently, at the "Three Types and Two Networks" construction discussion event of the Economic and Technological Research Institute of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd., Wu Chen, head of the Strategic Research Office of the Planning and Development Research Center of the Institute, elaborated on his understanding of the "Three Types and Two Networks".

Create “One Bridge, One Platform, One System”

Promoting the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things

The ubiquitous power Internet of Things is regarded as the second network on par with the smart strong power grid. This network focuses on all aspects of the power system and fully applies modern information technologies such as mobile Internet and artificial intelligence, as well as new technologies, to achieve the interconnection of all things in the power system and human-machine interaction. It can be understood as the integration of large power grid + big data.

What are the practical applications of the Internet of Things? Wu Chen gave an example.

The parameters of traditional urban road traffic light control systems are fixed, and it is common for one lane to be blocked while the other lane is vacant. If the Internet of Things technology is combined with traffic lights, the system can automatically adjust the waiting time of the signal light by monitoring the traffic volume, queue length and vehicle speed, achieving the best efficiency of urban roads and reducing the energy consumption of cars waiting.

In Jiangsu, the Internet of Things and the power grid are closely linked through "one bridge, one platform, one system, and one regulation". State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power has undertaken the implementation of the company's new era strategic goals by building an energy interconnection overpass, a comprehensive energy service platform, and a social comprehensive energy efficiency system.

In 2018, Jiangsu's first integrated energy service project was established in Wuxi Hongdou Industrial Park, and a new energy consumption model featuring multi-energy complementarity, extensive interconnection, and interactive supply and demand was born. According to reports, the park intelligently collects electricity and energy data from 30 corporate customers in the area, and at the same time fully connects with meteorological data, power grids, energy storage, distributed energy, etc. Through big data analysis, it realizes the optimal interconnection and comprehensive supply of energy, effectively improving the energy utilization efficiency of the park. The pilot practice of the power Internet of Things allows the park to save 21.04 million kWh of electricity each year, and the comprehensive energy cost is reduced by 10%.

"We need to build a comprehensive energy system with electricity as its core, give full play to the physical resources of the power grid and the management resources of enterprises, establish a widely interconnected data network, and continuously improve the energy utilization efficiency of customer terminals. At the same time, we must make full use of technologies such as big data and cloud computing to provide customers with complete energy solutions, steadily advance the construction of the electricity market, give play to the role of market resource allocation, and further promote the implementation of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things." said Gao Zhengping, director of the Planning and Development Research Center of the State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute.

In order to further promote the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power has carried out research on multi-station integration technology. This technology can transform traditional substations into energy hubs with bidirectional and orderly energy flow with characteristics such as source, network, load and storage, data hubs for edge computing of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, and business hubs with horizontal integration of various professions such as operation, distribution, regulation and planning, laying the foundation for the next step of extensive interconnection of power grid, Internet of Things, information network and energy network.

"Building a ubiquitous power Internet of Things and eventually building an energy Internet is a thorough revolution from concepts to technology and management. We must examine the development of the power grid with an Internet mindset and an external perspective, and carry out top-level design from the perspective of energy development and social development." said Zhang Cheng, deputy director of the State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute.

The large-scale pilot application of grid-side energy storage is an important part of the construction of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things. State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute has carried out a lot of work to promote the research and construction of energy storage in Jiangsu.

In 2018, State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute undertook the construction of the country's largest grid-side energy storage project - Zhenjiang Eastern Grid Energy Storage Power Station, and took the lead in compiling the "Overall Opinions on Jiangsu Energy Storage Research" and "Jiangsu Energy Storage Development Special Plan", clarifying the energy storage application scenarios, formulating basic energy storage application strategies, and comprehensively evaluating energy storage benefits to maximize the cost-effectiveness of energy storage investment.

In order to promote the large-scale and standardized promotion of energy storage power stations, the State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute led the compilation of the first typical design plan for energy storage power stations and related equipment technical specifications in China. On November 2, 2018, the plan and specifications successfully passed the expert review of the China Electricity Council, marking the possibility of large-scale, market-oriented and standardized development of energy storage.

On March 6 this year, the second batch of grid-side energy storage projects in Jiangsu officially started construction. The project will further improve the power supply level in Jiangsu and ensure safe and reliable power supply during the high temperature period in Jiangsu in summer.

The proportion of terminal electricity consumption will continue to grow

Continue to improve the level of scientific planning and development of power grids

"In 2020, the proportion of electricity in Jiangsu's terminal energy consumption will reach one-third, which will become an important achievement in Jiangsu's 'three types and two networks' construction." At the "three types and two networks" discussion meeting, Li Hu, head of the Energy Research Office of the Planning and Development Research Center of the State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute, said.

Terminal energy consumption refers to the form of energy that is ultimately used in people's production and life. Common types include electricity, natural gas, gasoline, etc. Electricity is the most environmentally friendly, safe, efficient, and flexible in application among various types of energy. The proportion of electricity in terminal energy consumption (referred to as "electricity share") is a common indicator for measuring the electrification level and energy structure of a country and region. The higher the proportion of electricity, the higher the electrification level and cleaner the energy consumption in a region, and also indicates that the region has a high level of development.

In recent years, the proportion of electricity in Jiangsu has shown a clear upward trend. Since 2008, the proportion of electricity in Jiangsu has increased by about 0.7 percentage points per year on average. Among them, between 2010 and 2013, the growth rate even exceeded 1 percentage point. In 2017, due to the vigorous promotion of electricity substitution and the substantial increase in air conditioning load in summer, statistics show that the proportion of electricity in Jiangsu exceeded 30% for the first time, reaching 30.25%. It is predicted that by 2020, the proportion of electricity in Jiangsu will exceed 33.02%, reaching one-third.

The continuous increase in the proportion of electricity is inseparable from "worry-free electricity, money-saving electricity, and green electricity." Electricity stands out from the competition among various energy sources and gradually becomes the main force of terminal energy consumption.

In addition, environmental protection requirements are also one of the important reasons for the continuous increase in the proportion of electricity consumption in Jiangsu. In the first quarter of this year, during the survey of Jiangsu's electricity load, Lin Jie, head of the energy department of Wuxi Xinsanzhou Special Steel Co., Ltd., said: "Since last year, the national environmental protection requirements have been greatly improved. We have converted coal-fired boilers into electric boilers, and the company's pollutant emissions have dropped by half. At the same time, the factory has also carried out waste heat recovery transformation, reducing energy costs by 12%."

"We must continue to improve the level of scientific planning of the power grid, enhance regional power supply stability, strengthen the construction of 'source, grid, load and storage', and enhance the power grid's ability to withstand accidents. At the same time, we must further promote the standardization of distribution networks across the province to ensure that every customer can use electricity with peace of mind." Faced with the trend of an increasing proportion of terminal electricity consumption, Xie Zhenjian, deputy director of the Planning and Development Research Center of the State Grid Jiangsu Economic Research Institute, suggested.
