China Energy Storage Network: In Germany, Statkraft has partnered with Energy Meteo Systems to create a virtual power plant (VPP) that integrates renewable energy power plants. The virtual power plant includes more than 1,300 wind farms in the system of the virtual power plant, as well as 100 solar, hydroelectric and bioenergy producers, with a total capacity of more than 10,000 megawatts, which is roughly the same as 10 nuclear reactors and more than twice the Neurath coal power plant, Germany's largest power plant. The virtual power plant connects these small power producers to sell renewable energy and utilizes the full flexibility of renewable energy plants, just like a large, reliable power plant. Experts build intelligent algorithms to automatically sell the production of renewable energy power plants in the energy market to minimize customer risks and maximize financial returns by leveraging the flexibility of virtual power plants. The virtual power plant works with meteorological agencies to process and analyze more than 50,000 relevant data per minute through a digital platform, which can effectively deal with the intermittent problems of renewable energy generation. The virtual power plant can remotely control each independent power producer in the power grid, with more than 10,000 transactions per day. For example, if there is a sudden drop in market prices or grid constraints, we can reduce the output of power plants. This enables plants to balance power production in real time. Currently, this innovation has begun to be promoted, with more than 50 VPP solutions already available.
