On March 26, we learned from relevant channels that the statistics of China's photovoltaic inverter exports in 2018 have been completed. According to the data, my country's inverter exports in 2018 were about 1.82 billion US dollars (including photovoltaic, wind power, automotive power, etc.). Among them, the top 30 photovoltaic inverter companies accounted for 46.49%.

The market share of brand enterprises has not changed much, and Huawei still leads

Comparing the export volume data in 2017, among the top three, Huawei successfully defended its title, Sungrow Power Supply remained strong and still ranked second, and Ginlong Technology leapt into the top three.

In terms of export value, Huawei still leads the list with an absolute advantage, with more than US$270 million accounting for 14.89%, 5.63 percentage points ahead of the second place. The difference in total value between Sungrow Power Supply, which ranks second, and Ningbo Jinlong, which ranks third, is 5.73 percentage points.

On the whole, the total export volume share of the top three has not changed much, falling from 27.77% in 2017 to 27.68% in 2018, which is not a big change.

Domestic "531" policy may be the primary reason for the increase in export volume

According to the data, starting from January 2018, the export volume performance was the same as usual, gradually increasing, and after February, the growth was basically stable. In March, April and May, the monthly growth rate was less than 1%, and the real leapfrog growth was in June 2018.

"It is precisely because of the introduction of the '531' policy in China that many photovoltaic companies have focused their attention on overseas markets and gradually expanded their market share," said an industry insider.

Judging from the data, this view of industry insiders is basically confirmed. The difference in the proportion of export volume in May compared with June reached 1.71%. Starting from June, the quota for three months remained at the high level of the whole year. Starting from September, although it declined, it immediately rebounded in October and grew back to the level of June in November. By the end of December, the export volume reached the highest peak of the year, about US$240 million, accounting for 13.38%, a month-on-month increase of 43.06%.

The United States remains the largest importer of inverters

In terms of importing countries, the rankings did not change much. The top four rankings were the same as in 2017. The United States still maintained the first position, accounting for 22.32% with about US$407 million, down about 1 percentage point year-on-year, the Netherlands accounted for 16.01% with about US$292 million, up about 1 percentage point year-on-year, India accounted for 8.49% with about US$155 million, and Australia accounted for 4.76%.

Japan ranked fifth, rising from seventh in 2017 to fifth, accounting for 4.63%. Mexico ranked sixth with 4.57%, Germany with 3.83%, Brazil with 2.97%, Hong Kong with 2.50%, Taiwan with 2.32%, and the United Kingdom with 2.08%. Among them, the Indian market grew by 431.31%. The top ten countries in terms of export volume accounted for 72.41% in total.
