Recently, at a photovoltaic enterprise event at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Delhi Airport in New Delhi, India, the person in charge of a Chinese photovoltaic enterprise happily announced that the company's inverter shipments in India exceeded 3GW, and it had also signed inverter orders of more than 1GW, which would soon enter the delivery stage.
In two years, the company's inverter shipments in India have tripled, making a huge contribution to the development of India's photovoltaic industry.

Vigorously expand the Indian market in 2015

Established inverter production base in India in 2018
This company is Sungrow, the global leader in photovoltaic inverters. In fact, as early as 2015, Sungrow had already set its sights on the Indian market and set up an office. Currently, the company has three offices in Bangalore and Kolkata.
In 2018, Sungrow also established its first inverter production base outside of China in Bangalore, with an annual production capacity of 3GW, greatly improving its supply capabilities to markets such as India and North America.
India is a rapidly developing solar market with huge market potential, so the company is also actively developing the Indian market to better meet customer needs with its unique technological innovations.
85% from China

India's photovoltaic market is highly dependent on imports
Over the past year or so, India has become the world's most watched photovoltaic market. Indian professional consulting agencies predict that in 2019, the installed capacity of renewable energy will increase by 15.86GW, a 50% increase compared to 2018, and may become the world's second largest photovoltaic market.
Solar energy is seen as the "ultimate solution" for energy supply in India. In 2014, Indian Prime Minister Modi announced a plan: India will achieve 100 GW of solar energy installed capacity by 2022. If this goal is achieved, India, a country with more than 300 million people suffering from long-term power shortages, will not only get rid of the power shortage dilemma, but also become a global leader in renewable energy.
The reality facing the Indian photovoltaic market is that its solar energy is highly dependent on imported components, about 89% of which come from abroad, of which 85% come from China.
my country's photovoltaic industry has achieved a brilliant turnaround

"Cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement" is an inevitable development trend
After nearly 10 years of policy support and technological innovation, my country's photovoltaic industry has achieved a stunning transformation from catching up, keeping pace to comprehensively surpassing foreign photovoltaic industries. Its international competitiveness has been continuously strengthened, and its installed capacity has ranked first in the world for several consecutive years.
However, after China's "531" new policy, the domestic market size has slightly decreased. Chinese photovoltaic companies have turned to overseas markets such as India, which have huge market sizes, to seek new growth points for corporate development. At the same time, my country's photovoltaic companies are also clearly aware that in the fiercely competitive Indian market environment with continuously falling prices, only by accelerating transformation and upgrading, and shifting from competing in scale, speed, and price to competing in quality, technology, and efficiency, and taking the road of high-quality development of "reducing costs, improving quality, and increasing efficiency" is the kingly way, which is also the inevitable trend of the development of the global photovoltaic market.
1500V has become the main solution in India

Chinese photovoltaic enterprises are tailor-made for India
But how can we achieve high-quality development by "reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency"? It is understood that among the 3GW of inverters shipped by Sungrow to India, nearly 2GW are 1500V inverters. Since 2017, the demand for 1500V products in the Indian photovoltaic market has surged, especially in large-scale ground power station project bidding, which has been fully switched to 1500V solutions. Today, the 1500V system has become the main solution in India.
When the voltage on the AC and DC sides of the 1500V system increases, the power density of the inverter increases, the power of the single unit increases, and the optimal economic array increases in size, while the cost of equipment such as the AC side transformer decreases. When the array size increases, the number of equipment such as inverters and transformers in the power station decreases, and the installation and maintenance costs are reduced, thereby reducing the cost of the power station system and increasing the rate of return. At present, the single sub-array size in Indian photovoltaic power stations has been switched from 6.25MW to 12.5MW, and is generally designed with an over-capacity ratio of more than 1.4 times. In addition, advanced technologies such as flat single-axis intelligent tracking systems and high-efficiency bifacial photovoltaic modules are also widely used in Indian photovoltaic systems.
Thanks to the tailor-made efforts of Chinese photovoltaic enterprises, the application technology of Indian photovoltaic systems is very advanced and even ahead of the times. At present, Chinese photovoltaic enterprises are also accelerating the application of advanced technologies such as "1500V, large array, high super configuration" in China, pushing Chinese photovoltaic industry towards the path of grid parity.
