German industrial giant Siemens today announced the market launch of a battery energy storage solution for private homes.
The lithium-ion battery, called the Junelight Smart Battery, is designed to supplement self-generated energy systems such as rooftop photovoltaics.
The storage capacity allows modular expansion. Each battery has a net capacity of up to 3.3 kWh and can store up to 19.8 kWh of electricity.
The battery is also equipped with a software that predicts and coordinates the charging and discharging process based on weather-related output forecasts of the PV system and the individual consumption of the household.
The Junelight Smart Battery is currently available in Germany and will be available in Austria in April 2019.
