Ingeteams Solar Division specializes in the design and manufacture of solar photovoltaic inverters, supplying a total of 3,850MW worldwide by the end of 2018. This figure is the highest record in the company's history. The previous best annual record was 1.44GW, achieved in 2017. The main markets for the company's solar business growth are the Middle East, Mexico, Australia, Spain, North Africa and France. However, the products sold last year were designed and manufactured in the company's factory in northern Spain and supplied to more than 20 countries on five continents.
“We want to consolidate our position in our most dynamic and mature markets, without losing sight of any new opportunities that may emerge in other countries with good growth prospects,” said Jose Luis Gonzalez, Ingeteam’s sales director for the solar photovoltaic sector.
The company has a broad product portfolio, ranging from string inverters for residential, commercial and industrial systems to central inverters for large power plants in the hundreds of megawatts. In fact, in 2018 Ingeteam supplied PV inverters for 11 plants with a rated capacity of 100 MW or more. Among this group of large solar power plants, special mention should be made of the largest PV plant in Europe (500 MW) and the largest in the world (1,177 MW).
It is estimated that the total amount of PV inverters supplied by Ingeteam in 2018 will be able to meet the electricity needs of approximately 2 million households.
Energy storage is a key area for Ingeteam, which is positioning itself for considerable development in the short and medium term for such systems, both at the residential level and on a large scale. In fact, Ingeteam is selling battery converters for both sectors. In 2018, the company mainly supplied battery converters for hybrid systems combining photovoltaic power generation and energy storage. Sales were mainly to countries such as the United States, Spain, Australia, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil.
In addition, the company set a new annual record for maintaining electricity supply, with more than 12GW of renewable energy generation worldwide, of which 4.4GW came from solar power from more than 500 photovoltaic power plants. This means that Ingeteam Service is currently securing its leading position as an ISP (Independent Service Provider) for energy power plant operation and maintenance services.
