According to data released by India's Mercom, in the first half of 2018, India's total installed capacity was about 5GW, and the cumulative installed capacity exceeded 25GW.
In the first half of 2018, most of the installed capacity was large-scale photovoltaic projects with a capacity of more than 1MW, accounting for about 84% of the total installed capacity of 4.138GW. The remaining 16% was rooftop photovoltaic projects, totaling about 805MW.
Rooftop photovoltaics increased by 55% year-on-year. As of June 2018, the cumulative installed capacity of rooftops was 2.41GW, accounting for about 10% of the total photovoltaic installed capacity.
The India Solar Market Leadboard 1H 2018, recently released by Mercom, India, provides the market share and shipments of the leaders in the Indian photovoltaic supply chain industry.

Although some larger companies still maintain their leading positions, we saw some new entrants to the rankings in the first half of 2018, which means there is healthy competition in the market.
According to the report, in the first half of 2018, the top 10 developers accounted for 55% of the market share.
India has around 300 developers with a track record of operating projects of at least 5MW.
For rooftop projects, the top 10 installers account for only 27% of the market share.
Adani remains the largest project developer in terms of cumulative installations in the first half of 2018.
Sterling and Wilson ranked first among EPC firms.
ABB dominates the Indian solar inverter market and remains the company with the largest shipments of PV inverters in India.
Central inverters are more popular than string inverters, accounting for 90% of total shipments.
The top five component suppliers account for more than 37% of the market share.
As of the end of June 2018, Trina Solar ranked first in India in terms of cumulative module shipments, but ZnShine was the PV module supplier with the largest shipments in India in the first half of 2018.
There are more than 30 suppliers of solar trackers in the Indian market. NEXTracker and Artech Solar lead in cumulative shipments, but L&T was the largest supplier in the first half of the year.
