On July 31, the first user-side mobile lithium battery energy storage power station jointly built by GCL Smart Energy Co., Ltd. and State Grid Jiangsu Integrated Energy Service Co., Ltd., the Yangzhong Chang'e 5 Energy Storage Station, was connected to the grid and put into operation in Yangzhong, Jiangsu. The total capacity of the project is 2MWh, and it is the only user-side lithium battery energy storage power station in the Zhenjiang 400MWh energy storage power station group, the world's largest distributed energy storage project.

The timely commissioning of the project has relieved the huge pressure of rising power load in the eastern part of Zhenjiang, reduced the electricity cost of enterprises, and further ensured the safety of the power grid. At 13:15 on August 10, the Jiangsu power grid broke the record for the third time this year, with the highest power load reaching 102.879 million kilowatts. It is the first provincial power grid in the State Grid system to exceed 100 million kilowatts for two consecutive years.
The project leader introduced that in order to ensure the safety of the power grid during the peak summer season, the Chang'e-5 energy storage station took only two months from start-up to commissioning, and adopted the same lithium battery technology route as the local grid-side energy storage demonstration project. The leader emphasized that this system is flexible and reliable, can be quickly disassembled and assembled multiple times, and is suitable for different emergency scenarios such as important load power supply, emergency power supply, and power supply capacity enhancement.
In addition, the mobile lithium battery energy storage station itself has the advantages of high energy density, long service life, convenient maintenance and repair, remote intelligent control, etc. It can realize dual charging and dual discharging, multi-point clustering, and can be friendly combined with distributed photovoltaics to improve user energy characteristics, representing the development direction of mobile energy and chemical energy storage power stations. "This is of great significance to improving the local renewable energy consumption capacity and building Yangzhong into a national high-proportion renewable energy demonstration city." said the above person in charge.
GCL said: GCL Smart Energy Co., Ltd. will take the commissioning of the Yangzhong user-side energy storage power station as an opportunity to actively explore a new distribution network model with integrated photovoltaic and energy storage, promote the consumption of local renewable energy, and promote the implementation of energy transformation in Yangzhong.
It is reported that while Jiangsu's electricity load hit a record high, the proportion of clean energy installed capacity also reached its highest level in history. As of the end of July 2018, Jiangsu's wind power and photovoltaic installed capacity were 7.765 million kilowatts and 12.072 million kilowatts respectively. Among them, the scale of offshore wind power installed capacity reached 2.249 million kilowatts, ranking first in the country.
GCL Smart Energy said that as a participant in the Yangzhong incremental distribution network national demonstration project, the company will also take the commissioning of the Yangzhong user-side energy storage power station as an opportunity to actively explore a new integrated photovoltaic and energy storage distribution network model, promote local renewable energy consumption, and promote the implementation of energy transformation in Yangzhong.
So far, GCL Smart Energy has deployed energy storage projects in many places across the country. The company's energy storage department said that with the support of the Development and Reform Commission, the Economic and Information Commission and its partner Zhongtian Technology at all levels, GCL Smart Energy put into operation the country's largest user-side lithium battery energy storage power station in 2017. As a demonstration project for the industrialization of energy storage in Jiangsu Province, it has achieved excellent indicators in one year of operation. The successful commissioning of this mobile lithium battery energy storage station means that Jiangsu's energy storage industry has achieved a national leading breakthrough in design, manufacturing and engineering technology, and has pushed the development of Jiangsu's energy storage industrialization to a new level.
