From last year to now, competition in the photovoltaic inverter industry has become increasingly fierce. In addition to the introduction of new products, various marketing and promotion methods have also emerged.
According to past market development patterns, the inverter industry undergoes a small reshuffle every one or two years and a major reshuffle every three to five years. In 2018, the inverter market structure may see some new changes.
At present, two major camps have been formed in China's inverter market:
The first camp is represented by companies such as Sungrow and Huawei. Industry insiders estimate that Huawei and Sungrow’s inverter market share reached 50% in 2017.
The second camp includes major companies such as Growatt, TBEA, KSTAR, Sinenergy, Chint, GoodWe, Ginlong, INVT, SANS, Easy Energy and Kehua Hengsheng.
In addition, there is no so-called "third camp". Some companies have been thrown out of the competition track due to problems in capital, operation and management, and those companies can no longer pose a threat to the companies in the first and second camps.

Competition in the photovoltaic inverter industry is extremely brutal, even bloody. Take a look at this set of data: at the 2012 Shanghai SNEC exhibition, there were as many as 439 inverter manufacturers; in 2013, there were only 286. From April 2013 to date, only about 40 companies have appeared in domestic photovoltaic inverter procurement bidding, and only a handful of companies are active in more than 50% of domestic bidding projects.
From the history of the inverter industry, every time a new application and market opportunity emerges, a new wave of integration will occur in the industry. The last round of integration in the inverter industry is coming to an end. With the outbreak of distributed power, the inverter industry will enter a new round of integration. The founder of a well-known inverter company analyzed: In the future, more companies will join the battle, and industry integration will intensify. In the distributed inverter field, only about 5 companies will survive in the end.
As we all know, China's inverter industry has experienced three major reshuffles:
The first reshuffle: Around 2010, domestic companies "flocked in" and some foreign brands withdrew from the Chinese market.
The second reshuffle: Between 2012 and 2013, domestic enterprises engaged in a price war, and the large-scale oligopoly won. What remains unchanged is that this reshuffle is still dominated by price wars. Enterprises such as Sungrow Power Supply and Sineng Electric, which have technology and manufacturing capabilities in large-scale manufacturing, led this industry reshuffle. During this period, small-scale enterprises such as Growatt, GoodWe, and Sanjing Electric mainly focused on the foreign market.
The third reshuffle: In 2014, Huawei's strong entry and changes in the foreign market prompted the third reshuffle of the inverter market. After this reshuffle, Sungrow, Huawei, and Sineng accounted for more than 80% of the ground-mounted power station market share. Around 2014, the foreign photovoltaic market changed, and companies such as Growatt, Samil, GoodWe, Omnik, and SAJ began to gradually return to China.
In 2018, the fourth reshuffle of the photovoltaic inverter industry is coming. Around 2017, "ground-based oligarchs" such as Sungrow, Huawei, and Sineng all launched their own small inverters, and the ground-based oligarchs and distributed "veterans" officially began to "fight". With the entry of "ground-based oligarchs" into the distributed market, a new round of industry reshuffle may be led.
According to Wang Yuelin, general manager of Sineng Electric Products: At present, a standardized business model for distributed photovoltaics has not yet been formed, and the market is in chaos. However, once the business model is solidified and more companies enter the distributed market, the prices of small inverters will drop rapidly, which also means that the fourth reshuffle of the inverter market is about to begin.
