China Energy Storage Network News: On October 30th, local time in the United States, Liu Zhenya, Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization and Chairman of the China Electricity Council, delivered a keynote speech at Columbia University to the faculty and students of the university entitled "Promoting the construction of the global energy internet and the development of 'three-network integration' to create a better future for the world and human society."
Liu Zhenya said that the Global Energy Internet is a major innovation based on the successful practice of UHV power grid. It is a modern energy system dominated by clean energy, centered on electricity, interconnected, and jointly built and shared. It is an important platform for the large-scale development, transmission, and use of clean energy on a global scale. In essence, it is "smart grid + UHV power grid + clean energy". Building a global energy Internet is an inevitable requirement for solving the world's energy development problems and a strategic approach to accelerate energy transformation. It conforms to the development law of the world's clean energy, electrification, and networking. Building a global energy Internet has guaranteed resources, feasible technology, good economic performance, large market demand, and international recognition. It has great comprehensive value in promoting energy transformation, responding to climate change, driving economic growth, and promoting peace and harmony. It is of great significance to promote the coordinated and sustainable development of world energy, economy, society, and environment.
Liu Zhenya proposed that the "three-network integration" is to promote the integrated development of the three (special) networks of "watts, bits, and meters" of energy, information, and transportation, realize channel sharing, facility sharing, terminal co-construction, and functional integration, and form a global comprehensive infrastructure platform. The "three-network integration" is an advanced form of global infrastructure interconnection, an objective requirement for the development of productivity, and an inevitable result of technological innovation. At present, the technologies of the three major networks are becoming more and more mature, and they have the conditions for accelerating integration. It is necessary to break down barriers, promote technological integration, planning integration, facility integration, and functional integration, and promote the world economy from the traditional industrial economy to the new network economy, digital economy, and sharing economy. Upgrade, and achieve the development goals of high electrification, high intelligence, high globalization, and high humanization.
Professor Sandro, founder of the Center for Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, hosted the speech and discussed issues such as UHV technology, large power grid security, distributed power sources, electric vehicles, and climate change with Liu Zhenya. Liu Zhenya also answered questions from teachers and students at Columbia University. Professor Tina, dean of the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, accepted the English editions of the monographs Global Energy Internet and UHV AC and DC Power Grid presented by Liu Zhenya on behalf of the school.
The teachers and students of Columbia University who participated in the speech activity highly recognized the Global Energy Internet. They believed that building a Global Energy Internet and promoting the "three-network integration" are of great significance to promoting the world's energy transformation and low-carbon economic development. It not only opened up a broad research space for colleges and universities and experts and scholars, but also brought huge business opportunities to related industries. It will surely have a very bright development prospect.
Columbia University is a world-class research university with a history of more than 260 years. It has made important contributions and influence in many fields such as politics, economics, engineering and technology. It has trained three US presidents, 29 heads of state, 96 Nobel Prize winners, 123 Pulitzer Prize winners, etc.
