On June 16, 2017, TUV Rheinland (hereinafter referred to as "TUV Rheinland") issued China's first charging cable certification certificate that complies with the GB/T33594-2017 standard for the electric vehicle charging cable products independently developed and produced by Futong Showa Cable (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Futong Showa"), a subsidiary of Futong Group. Futong Showa has also become the first company in the industry to obtain the certification certificate for the national standard for electric vehicle charging cables since the release of this standard, indicating that Futong's charging cable technology has reached the leading level in China and laid a solid foundation for entering the field of clean energy vehicles.

Promoting the development of the electric vehicle charging cable industry with advanced standards

At present, the world's major automobile producing countries have regarded the new energy automobile industry as a major strategy to improve the competitiveness of the industry and maintain sustainable economic and social development. As a major energy consumer, my country's development of the new energy automobile industry is also an inevitable choice in the low-carbon economy era. Charging cables play a pivotal role in the new energy automobile industry chain and are important components that determine whether new energy vehicles can be widely promoted and used. For this reason, relevant state ministries and commissions have formulated the national standard GB/T 33594-2017 for charging cables, which was officially released in May 2017. This move not only provides an important basis for the design and development of cable companies, but is also conducive to further standardizing charging cable manufacturers, new energy vehicle manufacturers and charging pile operators. It will also guide consumers to pay more attention to quality and safety, which is conducive to the long-term and healthy development of the industry.

As an internationally renowned third-party testing and certification organization, TUV Rheinland issued the world's first third-party electric vehicle charging cable standard 2Pfg 1908/05.12 in May 2012, which greatly solved the difficulties faced by charging cable companies in terms of product performance and safety requirements, and quickly led the development of the entire industry in a short period of time. So far, TUV Rheinland has issued more than 50 certificates that meet the 2Pfg 1908/05.12 standard to more than 30 domestic cable companies, making an important contribution to standardizing and guiding the charging cable market.

China's first national standard certification for electric vehicle charging cables

The DC and AC charging pile cables produced by Futong Showa that have passed the GB/T 33594-2017 standard certification can meet the needs of most charging piles in China. They represent the technical direction and trend of domestic electric vehicle charging cables and have important guiding significance for standardizing the technical requirements of domestic electric vehicle charging cables.

As early as the end of 2015, when Futong Showa initiated the charging cable project, it took TUV Rheinland standards 2Pfg 1908, GB/T 33594:2017 and EN50620:2017 as the direction of future product development, and conducted a lot of trials and explorations based on the draft version of the GB standard at that time. With the close cooperation of engineers from Futong Showa and TUV Rheinland, after repeated trial production, testing and process adjustments, the final product's various performances fully met the GB standard requirements, and passed the full performance test at one time, obtaining the first domestic certification certificate that meets the GB/T 33594-2017 standard.

Prior to this, Futong Showa charging cable products have also successfully passed TUV Rheinland's voluntary product certification for the Chinese market - the China Mark, which means that the product has successfully passed TUV Rheinland's testing and certification for safety, performance and quality. TUV Rheinland China's certificate focuses on indicators that directly reflect product quality and affect the personal and property safety of consumers, aiming to safeguard consumer interests, improve product quality and enhance product competitiveness.

TUV Rheinland and Futong Showa have maintained a good cooperative relationship for many years, especially in the field of new energy cables. Photovoltaic cables and charging cables have obtained authoritative certification from TUV Rheinland. In 2017, the two parties will also cooperate in the fields of robot cables and submarine cables to jointly promote the further development of the cable industry.
