On May 22, the 2nd China Photovoltaic + Innovation Development Forum and the "Leader" Base Experience Exchange Meeting was grandly held in Datong, Shanxi, gathering nearly 100 photovoltaic industry experts from across the country. "We not only provide the base with the first 1500V high-voltage and efficient smart photovoltaic system with a single unit scale of 20MW in China, but we also strive to coordinate the construction of the base and vigorously promote the comprehensive management of ecological restoration." Dr. Hu Bing, Vice President of the Power Station Division of Sungrow Power Supply, was invited to attend the conference and give a keynote speech.

The cumulative power generation ranked first in the "Leader Base"
Hu Bing came straight to the point and shared with the guests the efforts and thoughts of Sungrow in the construction of Datong PV "Leader" Base in the past two years. Hu Bing introduced that Sungrow, with its 20 years of technical accumulation and innovation capabilities in the field of new energy power generation, fully demonstrated and applied cutting-edge innovative achievements such as DC 1500V photovoltaic technology, tracking system technology, and ecological restoration technology in the construction of the "Leader" Base project.
It is reported that based on the company's strong technical research and development capabilities, Sungrow has created the industry's first 1500V inverter with the highest single-machine power and integrated medium-voltage system, a 3MW box-type medium-voltage inverter. Compared with the 1000V DC system, the cable loss is reduced by about 20%, the transformer loss is reduced by 25%, and the system power generation efficiency is increased by 1%-2%. It has won the "1500V Strongest Efficiency Award" from German Rhine TÜV.
In addition, the Datong "Leader" base project fully applies Sungrow's iSolar smart solar solution to build a smart, efficient, powerful and reliable photovoltaic power station. On the one hand, multi-dimensional optimization from a system perspective promotes continuous improvement of system performance; on the other hand, based on the smart photovoltaic cloud platform, it actively promotes "photovoltaic + Internet", establishes a standardized and refined operation and maintenance management platform, and improves the automation and specialization of the power station.
"The use of 1500V high-voltage and high-efficiency intelligent photovoltaic systems has greatly reduced costs, improved efficiency, and increased power generation revenue." Hu Bing revealed that among all the 50MW power stations in the base, Sungrow's cumulative power generation ranks first, accounting for 5.10% of the total 1GW project power generation of the entire base, which is 1 percentage point higher than some power stations of the same size.
Coal Gangue Mountain Becomes a Scenic Spot, Explaining "Photovoltaic + Ecology"
When talking about Sungrow's investment in the "Leader" base project, Hu Bing was very emotional: "In the new energy business, technical research and development strength and project management capabilities are key, but passion is also indispensable." Hu Bing said that the Datong "Leader" project built by Sungrow has always attached equal importance to social and economic benefits.
According to reports, since the day it won the bid in July 2015, Sungrow has made it clear that it must plan ecological restoration and governance projects with the highest standards and become a benchmark and model for "leader" bases. Since the project was launched, through the vigorous use of new fire source detection technology, efficient fire extinguishing technology and advanced detection technology, Sungrow has now cumulatively treated 26,612 square meters of hidden fire areas and 8,028 square meters of exposed fire stripping areas, and the local ecology has undergone tremendous changes. "Sungrow uses photovoltaic + coal gangue field spontaneous combustion control comprehensive application technology to achieve ecological restoration of abandoned coal gangue areas, turning waste into treasure, and has become one of the most valuable innovative technologies and innovative models in coal mining subsidence areas across the country." Wang Mingsheng, deputy director of the Datong Municipal Development and Reform Commission, highly affirmed Sungrow's efforts and contributions to local ecological restoration.
In Hu Bing's view, using the most advanced technology and the greatest effort to manage and restore the local ecology on a large scale is also a major commitment that Sungrow has made to the PV+ advocated by the Datong base.
According to the project site operation and maintenance personnel, people come to visit here almost every month, and the total number of visitors has reached nearly 1,000 so far. "In addition to seeing our equipment and systems, many people come here for our coal gangue mountain ecological restoration project. Everyone jokingly says that this place has become a tourist attraction."
