China Energy Storage Network News: On February 22, the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization held a press conference in Beijing. On the same day, the cooperation organization released three innovative achievements: "Global Energy Interconnection Development Strategy White Paper", "Transnational and Intercontinental Grid Interconnection Technology and Prospects", and "Global Energy Interconnection Development and Prospects (2017)". Nearly 400 representatives from more than 200 units attended the press conference.
In March last year, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization was formally established. In less than a year, it has done a lot of pioneering work in concept dissemination, major issue research, international cooperation, project implementation, etc., promoting the development of the Global Energy Internet to achieve new results. The Global Energy Internet has gone from concept proposal to international consensus, and from strategic initiative to strategic implementation, reflecting China's responsibility and commitment in promoting energy transformation and responding to climate change.
Liu Zhenya, Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization, delivered an opening speech. Wu Hongbo, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, sent a congratulatory video, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Imperial College of London, and the Technical University of Berlin in Germany sent congratulatory letters. Jiang Yi, Deputy General Manager of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., Richard Taylor, Chairman of the International Hydropower Association, Lawrence Jones, Vice Chairman of the Edison Electric Institute, Guo Jianbo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Frank Berendt, Academician of the German Academy of Engineering, delivered keynote speeches. Shu Yinbiao, Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China and Vice Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization, hosted the press conference.
Liu Zhenya proposed that the essence of building a global energy internet is to create a green, low-carbon, interconnected, co-built and shared world energy community. The global energy internet promotes the formation of a new energy production and consumption mode dominated by clean energy and characterized by high electrification; forms a new energy development pattern with interconnected power grids in various countries and continents and optimized global power allocation; and forms a new energy cooperation relationship of joint construction, shared results and mutual benefit.
Liu Zhenya stressed that the integration of energy network, information network and transportation network will become an inevitable trend. At present, with electricity as the driving force and data as the link, the energy network, information network and transportation network are increasingly closely connected in terms of network form, business functions and resource utilization, showing a development trend of mutual intersection, mutual integration, mutual support and mutual complementation. The information network and transportation network have basically achieved global interconnection, while the energy network has not yet achieved global interconnection and its development is obviously lagging behind. To promote the development of the integration of the three networks, we must seize the key and short board of the energy network, and the core is to accelerate the construction of the global energy Internet.
Liu Zhenya proposed that to further promote the innovative development of the global energy Internet, three key points need to be grasped. First, comprehensive cooperation should be used to gather development forces, expand the breadth and depth of concept dissemination, deepen exchanges among all parties, and carry out pragmatic cooperation. Second, scientific and technological research should be used to lead innovative development, and a number of innovative results should be achieved as soon as possible in flexible direct current transmission, large-capacity energy storage, energy routers, information-physical integration, big data, the Internet of Things, autonomous driving, and vehicle networking. Third, project implementation should be used to accelerate the implementation of the strategy, promote the feasibility study of the China-Korea-Japan interconnection project, deepen the interconnection project between China and the countries along the "Belt and Road", and the research on the development and transmission of North African solar energy and Central African hydropower bases.
In his congratulatory video, Wu Hongbo said that building a global energy internet is in the common interests of all mankind. The United Nations and cooperation organizations have common goals in promoting sustainable energy development and connectivity, addressing climate change, and have carried out fruitful cooperation. They are currently jointly promoting the inclusion of the construction of a global energy internet in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The three results released this time deeply analyzed the current situation of clean energy, power grid technology, and cross-border networking in the world, proposed the development strategy system, development ideas and strategic priorities of the global energy Internet, and provided strategic guidance and action guidelines for promoting the development of the global energy Internet. At a time when the international consensus on the global energy Internet is gradually forming and is moving towards the stage of strategic implementation, the release of innovative results not only reflects the grasp and insight into the world's energy development trends, but also reflects the strong sense of responsibility and mission of the cooperative organization for global energy development and the progress of human society.
