Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems (TMEIC) announced on May 31 its sales performance for inverters (PCS) for large-capacity photovoltaic power generation systems in fiscal 2015: the supply volume was approximately 3.6GW, and the cumulative supply volume since fiscal 2009 was approximately 8.3GW.

In addition to continued strong performance in the Japanese domestic market, overseas markets also grew significantly in fiscal 2015, resulting in an overall supply capacity increase of 1.4 times that of fiscal 2014. The company announced that large-capacity models supporting 1000V DC voltage performed well in the Japanese market.
Overseas, sales in the United States and India were particularly strong. In the United States, large-scale projects were under construction one after another, driving market growth. In addition, sales in India, where a local production base was established in 2014, were also expanding smoothly.
TMEIC is estimated to have a 50-60% market share in terms of capacity in Japan's 1MW and above 1 million PV power plant projects. In the 2014 PCS global market ranking for photovoltaic power generation (in US dollars and by supply value) conducted by the US research company IHS, TMEIC ranked first in the world in the field of large-scale PCS above 100kW.
Among the major PCS manufacturers in Japan, Omron, which holds the largest market share in the field of small-capacity models for residential use, saw a significant drop in PCS sales in fiscal 2015. This shows that the low-voltage grid-connected market below 50kW is stagnant due to grid-connected shelving issues, while demand in the field of mega-PV power stations remains strong.
