ABB is playing a key role in Israel’s largest and most prestigious PV project, a 55MW PV plant planned and financed by Enlight Renewable Energy and expected to be located in the western Negev.
The power station is expected to bring photovoltaic electricity to 18,000 households in Israel, and ABB will provide a total of 36 ULTRA-1400 photovoltaic inverters for this purpose.
Inverters need to adapt to harsh desert environments
“The ULTRA inverter has once again demonstrated its ability to adapt to harsh environments such as deserts. This is why it was chosen in the rapidly growing global photovoltaic market,” said Paolo Casini, vice president of marketing for ABB’s Photovoltaics Product Group, Power Conversion.
The key reason for choosing the ULTRA inverter was that it has four independent maximum power point tracking (MPPT) input channels, which enables it to harvest energy in a wide range of conditions and situations with maximum flexibility - even in the extreme heat of the Negev when used in combination with a single-axis solar tracker.
ULTRA is a star product among ABB's inverters, including three categories: 700KW, 1050KW and 1400KW.
