The "Internet Technology and Standards Forum" on the Internet of Everything driving industrial transformation was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang today. ZTE President Shi Lirong delivered a wonderful speech at the forum. The following is a transcript of his speech:
Theme: Internet of Everything Empowers Industrial Transformation
Shi Lirong: Dear guests, I only have ten minutes in total and I would like to express a few points.
One is that friends in the media have been asking, what is the biggest feeling about this Internet Conference? I think this Internet Conference has a deeper, more comprehensive and more balanced thinking about the Internet. I think the five points proposed by President Xi are relatively comprehensive. For example, the interconnection of Internet infrastructure is placed in the most important position. In the past, when talking about the Internet Conference, I thought of Internet stars performing on the stage.
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan gave a speech in Chinese at the opening ceremony. He also said that if you want to get rich, you must first build roads. Without a good Internet infrastructure, the current Internet business model is not valid. ZTE started to propose the MIT strategy last year. We proposed the mobile Internet of Everything. We believe that the real Internet of Everything must be mobile, because humans want everything to be convenient and simple. Take a home as an example. Now a family network, in theory, has fiber optics to the home. Why do people still want the convenience of wireless at home? Anytime, anywhere. So in the future, if we really want the Internet of Everything, it must be mobile. This is a point of view.
I think ZTE has a very good foundation in this area, in terms of mobility. We have made many innovations in mobile infrastructure, including terminal infrastructure. For example, in terms of mobile infrastructure, in Wuzhen, where you are today, we have jointly provided LTE equipment with China Mobile. I think you may feel that compared with other places in the world, the speed of our LTE should be the best, because I have traveled all over the world, and I feel that the speed of LTE in this area is very good. At the same time, we and China Mobile have also opened 5G base stations here. We have opened three sites. On the mobile phone side, you can use 4G LTE mobile phones, but your speed and capacity will increase by five to ten times. This is also a world first. I think when 5G arrives before 2020, ZTE can make a phased contribution to mankind.
In the field of mobile phones, we released AXON this year. Americans like this word very much. It means neural system. In terms of the future business model of mobile phones, Mr. Zhou Hongyi and I have different views. I think that in the future, the mobile phone should be a small cloud center for individuals. Although the Internet of Everything and the mobile Internet of Everything cannot have processing and storage capabilities for every small connection point as Mr. Zhou Hongyi said, its cost, convenience and applicability are simply unattainable. As a small cloud center for individuals, the mobile phone can be seamlessly connected with your bracelet, watch, projector, home appliances and car. Of course, you can go to the cloud for large needs, but small personal cloud needs are on the mobile phone. So I think that we define AXON as a small cloud terminal for individuals in the future. This small cloud terminal can be seamlessly connected with the nodes related to you.
How to achieve low-cost, low-power and efficient connection is very important. Moreover, this device is connected to many other devices. If this cannot be done, the future mobile Internet of Everything cannot be realized. Its importance is no less than the large-scale or celebrity applications in the future. I think this little thing cannot solve its power consumption, its real-time, its power consumption and cost. If it is not solved, the so-called mobile Internet of Everything proposition does not hold.
ZTE has also made a lot of contributions to smart cities. The smart city we are talking about now is called Smart City 2.0. Smart City 2.0 can unify more IoT nodes and traditional information nodes on a platform, so that many departments and citizens can share information through this platform. In the past, many people seemed to have mentioned the concept of smart cities. But that was 1.0. The so-called 1.0 was more of a vertical application module. For example, transportation was a transportation module, education was an education module, and medical hospitals were a module. The information of these modules was not interoperable. There was a big problem, and they were all information islands.
Our Smart City 2.0 is to connect all the nodes of information together, so that everyone can share the information as needed. The next step of Smart City 3.0 is to apply the data in this information to big data. We call it 3.0. However, in this big data application, it may require a lot of ptno (sound) to work together, and ZTE cannot complete this task together.
Finally, I would like to mention a concept, the concept of energy Internet. In the past thirty years, everyone has focused on the information Internet, but today's environment, the Paris Climate Conference, I believe the whole world is paying attention to it, not to mention China's smog.
To truly solve the biggest problem that threatens humanity, as I just said, our information interconnection is to make people's lives better, and now the environmental problem directly threatens people's lives. So its importance is no less than making people's lives better. To solve the pollution problem, I think it is very important to handle energy well. How can China solve the problem of coal power and solve the problem of traffic? Urban traffic is one of the biggest sources of smog.
Our energy internet is based on the idea that cars can be charged anytime and anywhere, using wireless charging. We have transferred the wireless charging technology in the communication field to the automotive and energy fields. At present, we can charge buses quickly in a few minutes at the terminal, starting station, and intermediate stations, so that cars do not need to carry a lot of batteries. In the future, we also hope to lay a wireless charging facility under the road for passenger cars, so that all cars can get energy anytime and anywhere during the process of driving. If this problem can be solved, just like today's Internet, everyone can get what they need on the interconnected network. In the future, if all cars, robots, and everything can get energy anytime and anywhere, I think the current problem of environmental pollution that threatens mankind should be solved.
