Mitsubishi Electric exhibited the "FullBlack Monocrystalline Module", a solar cell module with a black backsheet, at the "PVJapan2011" solar cell exhibition. It is mainly aimed at users who do not like white backsheets, and areas such as Kyoto City that require buildings to take into account the urban landscape. According to Mitsubishi Electric, it has confirmed with relevant persons in charge of Kyoto City that this solar cell module can be used in landscape protection areas, and will start accepting orders for production from December 9, 2011.

When the back sheet of the solar cell module changes from white to black, the light returning to the solar cell unit will decrease due to the reflection of the back sheet, so there is a problem of a slight decrease in output power. Mitsubishi Electric has solved the above problem by reducing the width of the unit surface electrode (finger electrode) and increasing the height, thereby increasing the light receiving area without increasing the wiring resistance. Therefore, the same 200W solar cell module output power can be ensured as the original product with a white back sheet. In addition, the suggested retail price of this solar cell module is 142,800 yen, which is 8,400 yen more expensive than the original product.
