Kyocera Corporation has supplied 6MW (approximately 27,000 solar panels) to the solar power plant in Piedmont built by the Italian power company ENERMILL EnergieRinnovabili srl. This is Kyocera's largest solar power generation system installed in Italy.

The power plant is expected to generate 7,200,000 kWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 2,600 average Italian households. The generated electricity will be supplied to the surrounding areas.

The European Union (EU) has set a goal of "increasing the proportion of renewable energy in total energy consumption to 20% by 2020". In order to accelerate the introduction of new energy, European governments have actively introduced various subsidy policies. The Italian government introduced a solar feed-in tariff subsidy system in 2005, which effectively expanded the demand for solar cells. By the end of 2010, the country had successfully put into operation about 3.4GW of solar power stations.

Kyocera's solar cells have been used in solar power plants in Spain (3 sites with a total installed capacity of 53.1MW, which have been successfully installed), Thailand (34 sites with a total installed capacity of 204MW, which will be installed in the next few years), and 7 electric power companies in Japan. One of our company's strengths is to be able to provide high-quality products stably and over the long term.

Kyocera has been pursuing unlimited "high reliability" since it began developing solar cells in 1975. In January 2011, Kyocera's solar cell modules were the first to pass the "Long-term Sequential Test" of solar cell performance quality testing implemented by the third-party certification agency TÜV Rheinland Japan.
