In the world's solar photovoltaic field, sunlight is used to produce the "volt effect" to directly convert sunlight into electrical energy. If this inexhaustible electricity is directly connected to the grid for power generation, it will be a technological revolution that benefits all mankind. In the past, solar photovoltaic and smart grid were two parallel industrial chains, and the inability of electricity to be connected to the grid has always been a regret in the industry. Today, the intermediate connection technology between these two complete industrial chains has finally made an important breakthrough in Yangzhou. Yesterday, good news came from the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone: the photovoltaic inverter developed by Jiangsu Aikesai Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. over a period of two years was successfully connected to the grid and put into small-scale production. Industry insiders believe that the breakthrough of this technology has filled the gap in the application end of the solar photovoltaic industry in our city.

As the interface device between photovoltaic cells and the power grid, the grid-connected inverter is a key component for photovoltaic power generation to connect to the smart grid. Wang Yimin, director of the Smart Grid Department of the State Grid Corporation of China and economic adviser to the Yangzhou Municipal Government, explained: "The electricity generated by solar cells needs to be converted by the inverter to synchronize the frequency, waveform and other parameters with the power grid before it can be connected in parallel with the external power grid. Otherwise, it is easy to damage the power generation device and endanger the safety of the power grid."

Aikesai Electric began to focus on inverter technology several years ago. In the past two years, the company has invested nearly 10 million yuan to work with the Photovoltaic System Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education and Southeast University to tackle technical problems. After nearly two years of intensive research, it has finally mastered the core technology of inverter grid connection and successfully completed the grid connection test recently. What is particularly surprising is that the company has also improved the two core components of digital signal processing (DSP) and transformers on the basis of traditional inverters, and developed new technologies of dual DSP and non-metal transformers.

"For grid-connected inverters, DSP is equivalent to the human 'brain' and the transformer is the 'heart'." Jiang Qiang, chairman of Aixai Electric, proudly said that the dual DSP is equivalent to installing two "brains" on the inverter, which greatly improves the stability. The non-metal transformer replaces the traditional silicon steel sheet, which increases the grid-connected conversion efficiency to 97.4%, which is currently the highest in the country.

As soon as the test was over, the company took the newly developed grid-connected inverter to Nanjing for an exhibition, which caused quite a stir at the exhibition. Photovoltaic giants such as Changzhou Trina Solar, Kunshan General Silicon, and Yangzhou JA Solar signed large orders with Aixai. In addition, manufacturers from Germany, Australia, India, South Africa and other countries also extended olive branches. Among them, the intention contract with Germany alone was as high as 70 million yuan.

Jiang Qiang told reporters that the company has developed grid-connected inverters of different powers and is currently preparing samples for some major customers. It will be put into mass production this year. In the near future, as Yangzhou and domestic smart grid technologies become increasingly mature, it will become possible to generate electricity at home, and photovoltaic grid-connected inverters will usher in a peak of development.
