On the first day of 2010, Miao Liansheng, Chairman of Yingli Group, defined the past year of 2009 as "an important year for the implementation of the Group's strategic development". In this year, the Group completed
"increasing global market share and brand promotion and construction", which is a task that "should take several years to complete". As 2009 was coming to an end, Yingli Group received good news: on November 20, it once again entered the list of "China's Top 50 High-tech and High-growth Companies in 2009" selected by the internationally renowned consulting firm Deloitte, and then won the "Most Promising Chinese Enterprise in 2009" award selected by the well-known English financial monthly magazine "Finance" in Asia. Next, Yingli won the title of "China's Most Competitive Overseas Listed Company in 2009" in the "2009 Competitiveness of Chinese Overseas Listed Companies" evaluation conducted by the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China Business News.

Yingli gained both fame and fortune in the face of crisis
In 2009, the financial crisis swept the world. But in this year, Yingli gained both fame and fortune.
Last year, the "0.69 yuan incident" made Yingli famous and attracted the attention of the world. The
bid for the Dunhuang 10MW grid-connected photovoltaic power generation project, China's largest photovoltaic power station demonstration project, was opened on March 22. At the bid opening meeting, the consortium of Guotou Huajing Electric Power Holding Co., Ltd. and Baoding Tianwei Yingli New Energy Co., Ltd. reported the first phase of the on-grid electricity price (including tax) of 0.69 yuan/kWh.
0.69 yuan, in Yingli's view, is a price that neither makes a profit nor a loss, but in the eyes of the industry, it is an "ultra-low price" that has caused an earthquake in the industry and subverted the pattern, which is absolutely unacceptable. Since then, a huge wave of controversy has pushed Yingli to the forefront. The industry calls it the "0.69 yuan incident."
The ultra-low price did not allow Yingli to win the bid, but the marketization of photovoltaic power generation was pushed to the decision-makers and the general public in this way.
In fact, the significance of the "0.69 yuan incident" is not just that. Its spillover effect is that Yingli has become famous through this. In a sense, this is a rare opportunity to promote the company's reputation.
While the financial crisis swept the world, Yingli Group went against the trend and accelerated its expansion. It achieved sales of 540 megawatts of solar cell modules throughout the year, accounting for 10% of the global photovoltaic market share. In addition
, a series of major events such as the successful trial production of Liujiu Silicon Industry, the smooth progress of the "Panda" project, the approval of the National Key Laboratory, and successful overseas financing were staged in Yingli one after another, making Yingli the only photovoltaic company in China with a complete industrial chain from silicon materials, polysilicon ingots, slices, battery cells, battery modules to photovoltaic application systems.

Complete industrial chain creates industry standards
At the end of 2009, the successful trial production of Liujiu Silicon Industry made Yingli the photovoltaic enterprise with the most complete industrial chain in the world. Subsequently, Yingli people succeeded in winning the establishment of the National Key Laboratory of Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Technology, and will create the industry standards of the Chinese people.
On January 15, the key laboratory settled in Yingli was officially laid. It is understood that the laboratory will adopt the operation mechanism of "open, mobile, joint, and competitive", relying on the complete photovoltaic industrial chain production and technology model of Yingli Group, and engage in the application and basic research of crystalline silicon photovoltaic materials, solar cells and photovoltaic modules, and photovoltaic power generation systems in the entire industrial chain to create a world-class photovoltaic technology research base. The laboratory is currently the only photovoltaic system testing platform in China. After the project is completed, it will become a national public research center for testing, research and development, and demonstration of solar photovoltaic balance systems, and strive to become an internationally authoritative testing center.
It is understood that at present, whether it is wind power or photovoltaics, there is a lack of a unified standard system in China. However, there is no unified national industry standard and testing agency in China's photovoltaic industry, resulting in an irregular market, frequent unfair competition among enterprises, and a relatively chaotic market.
After the completion of the National Key Laboratory of Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Technology, Yingli will naturally be the biggest beneficiary. Not only will its products be able to occupy the high-end market, but it will also build a complete technical standard system. "If the company's standards can be elevated to industry standards, then our company will have an overwhelming advantage in future competition," said Han Zhanshan, deputy director of the Baoding High-tech Zone Management Committee, in an interview with the media.

Breaking through overcapacity with advanced technology
2009 was a turbulent year. The financial crisis ravaged the world, and voices of overcapacity were also rampant in China. The nascent photovoltaic industry seemed to be in crisis overnight.
As we all know, the photovoltaic industry is an industry with "both ends abroad", especially products, more than 95% of which are exported overseas. Since the second half of 2008, the international market has shrunk rapidly, and the prices of silicon materials and finished batteries have plummeted. Enterprises that entered the photovoltaic industry at the highest point in history have suffered a devastating blow.
Correspondingly, dozens of cities in China are competing to build photovoltaic industrial parks. By the end of June last year, 19 companies' polysilicon projects had been put into production, with a production capacity of 30,000 tons/year. Several other companies are building and expanding polysilicon projects, and the total planned production capacity is expected to exceed 100,000 tons by 2010. If all of these capacities can be realized, they will exceed twice the global demand. This is the industry background for the prevalence of overcapacity rumors.
However, in the eyes of Yingli people, the severe external environment can be described with a popular word in 2009: calm.
In Miao Liansheng's eyes, the so-called overcapacity refers to backward production capacity. Yingli, which pursues "technology is king", relies on world-class production technology and the most complete industrial chain in the world, and naturally does not care about the so-called overcapacity. "Whoever masters advanced technology will have the initiative in market competition." The production of Liujiu Silicon Industry has enabled Yingli to rely on advanced technology to greatly reduce product costs and energy consumption, and improve product quality, leading other domestic photovoltaic companies. "This is a step for the company to continuously adjust its product structure and accurately judge the direction of industrial upgrading," said Miao Liansheng.
In the eyes of the outside world, Yingli Group's recent goal is simply ambitious: to significantly reduce the cost of photovoltaic power generation through technological innovation, to achieve a photovoltaic module cost of less than US$1 per watt and a photovoltaic system power generation cost of less than RMB 1 per kilowatt-hour in 2010, and strive to make the cost of photovoltaic power generation reach a level equivalent to that of traditional energy power generation in 2012.

Experts' opinions
Leader in the photovoltaic industry
Recently, Yingli's 1GW battery module rolled off the production line and Liujiu Silicon Industry's successful trial production attracted the attention of the industry. Li Huiru, a professor at the School of Economics of Hebei University who has long been concerned about the development of the new energy industry, regards Yingli as the "leader in the photovoltaic industry." She said that as a well-known international and domestic company, Yingli has become a veritable leader in the clean energy photovoltaic industry with its philosophy and strength of "doing better, stronger, and more complete." "Yingli's stable position in an industry that meets the needs of low-carbon economic development not only means its bright future and beautiful vision, but also interprets the creed of "technology is king" with continuous product innovation, proving its international competitiveness in the industry."

Industrial Background
New energy: Subsequent pillar industry
Not long ago, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government issued the "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of a Modern Industrial System", which stated: "We must cultivate and develop high-tech industries and emerging industries, and strive to build new energy, electronic information and biological industries into subsequent pillar industries." New energy was identified as the subsequent pillar industry of our province for the first time.
2010 is the last year of the implementation of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", and the pressure on our province to adjust its structure and change its development mode has increased. As the leader of our province's photovoltaic industry, Yingli New Energy's production and marketing capabilities and R&D capabilities are among the most advanced in the country and even the world.

Reporter's Notes
Less complaints, more persistence
Miao Liansheng, who has been in charge of Yingli for more than 10 years, is no longer ignorant of the concept of industrial restructuring. He said frankly that running a business is like growing vegetables. Enterprises need to use their brains to grow fine vegetables and off-season vegetables. Only in this way can we have high value-added products and achieve sustained profit growth. At the same time, you should always pay attention to the latest developments of the same industry in the world. You can't just be satisfied with being the boss in China, but also make a comprehensive comparison with the advanced level of the same industry in all aspects of "research and development, manufacturing (production), and operation". Enterprises in emerging industries should not be greedy for big and complete, but should slowly accumulate experience in technology, management, and operation. This requires Hebei entrepreneurs to have enough patience, less complaints, and more persistence.
After visiting Yingli several times, the reporter deeply felt that this is a strictly managed and orderly enterprise with Miao Liansheng's personal style. In the enterprise park, there is no idle person. All employees are carrying out passionate and advanced innovation activities on the innovation platform provided by the company.
