If you like playing guitar, but you are not very familiar with music theory or memorizing chords, Tabstrummer can solve your concerns. Recently, a foreign enthusiast designed a "guitar" Tabstrummer. Tabstrummer can make guitar players who rely on tabs very happy to play. It allows chords to be entered into the device through programming and played back by pressing the buttons on the neck of the "guitar".

The Tabstrummer is built around an Atmel microcontroller that provides a MIDI out connection and an attached MIDI sound shield from Sparkfun Electronics with an onboard audio out jack. This output jack lets you plug the Tabstrummer into a pair of headphones, a microphone, or even your TV's audio input. The Tabstrummer's "strings" are touch-sensitive, wide PCB traces that allow the user to "pinch" each "string."

While it looks like the creators of Tabstrummer are planning to turn it into a commercial product, it remains to be seen whether such a product will ever make it to market. However, if you want to learn more about Tabstrummer and see some videos of it being played, you can check out their website.
