Following news that Samsung is expected to start shipping to Nvidia in the third quarter of this year, Korean media Sedaily reported that Samsung has begun mass production and supplying HBM3 memory to Nvidia on its Hwaseong Production Line 17.
In addition, to make up for the shortage of general DRAM memory supply caused by HBM supply, the Pyeongtaek P4 plant was converted into a DRAM-dedicated production line.
It was previously reported that the foundry business of Samsung's Pyeongtaek P4 plant has been suspended. South Korean media said that there are no plans for further investment in the NAND flash memory production line.
Industry insiders said: Currently, P4 is the only space in Samsung's (Korea) domestic business where it can increase DRAM production capacity. The company has made plans to invest in DRAM first in the space where it can increase semiconductor production capacity.
