Industry statistics show that due to the lack of orders and the downstream reduction of inventory, there is a situation of oversupply. The shipment volume of large-size LCDs in Q3 2010 decreased by 4% compared with Q2, and increased by 7% compared with the same period in 2009, reaching about 163 million pieces. However, the shipment volume of LED backlight module panels continues to grow.

Due to the increase in special deals reached by brand manufacturers for low-cost solutions for promotional models in the peak sales season at the end of 2010, the shipment volume of LCD TV panels in Q3 continued to rise, especially for models larger than 40 inches and LED backlight models. The shipment volume of LCD panels with a size of 40 inches and above reached 18.1 million pieces, an increase of 13% over Q21; among them, the shipment volume of LED backlight panels reached 7.8 million pieces, accounting for 43%, an increase of 2 million pieces over Q2.
