Whether a medical device can play its maximum efficiency in a hospital is directly related to the technical performance of the machine itself, but also has an extremely important relationship with the quality of the power supply. The quality of the power supply will directly affect the operational stability and reliability of the medical equipment, and even lead to major medical equipment accidents and huge economic losses. To this end, Shenzhen China Huaxing Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. has conducted long-term research on the power supply of equipment based on the current status of the medical equipment market, and provides the lowest price and most efficient power supply solutions for your products. Here, we will discuss with you the selection and products of power supplies for medical equipment.
At present, most domestic medical equipment is powered by 220V mains electricity. Due to the power supply requirements of various types of medical equipment, the most commonly used is the centralized power supply structure. That is, a centralized power converter generates the required output voltage of various voltage levels. Due to its low cost, high efficiency, adjustable output voltage, low output noise, fast dynamic response, etc., it is very suitable for medical equipment and is currently the most commonly used power supply method for medical equipment. The following issues need to be considered when determining the power supply solution for medical equipment.
Safety and Isolation
Safety and isolation are major differences between ordinary commercial power supplies and medical power supplies. Usually, except for some experimental analysis instruments, most medical equipment is installed near beds or operating tables, close to people and operators, and the outer shell is often touched. There are various strong and weak current components inside medical equipment. If there is a problem with the isolation between strong and weak currents or the insulation of the outer shell material, it will be very dangerous. In terms of safety testing, general medical equipment power supplies must obtain safety certifications such as UL60601-1, C-UL, and EN60601-1. The input and output terminals must have an isolation voltage of more than 4,000V, and the ground leakage current must be low, meeting the safety creepage distance requirements. Double insulation is required for the strong current part, especially the part that may come into contact with the device shell, and the insulation design must be strengthened.
Electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference resistance
To select or build a good power supply system for medical equipment, attention must be paid to improving the electromagnetic compatibility and anti-electromagnetic interference capabilities of the power supply. The following aspects should be considered:
Design. PCB design and layout. Generally, power supplies contain some high-frequency signals. Any printed line on the PCB can act as an antenna. The length and width of the printed line will affect its impedance and inductance, thereby affecting the frequency response. Even if the printed line passes through the DC signal, it will couple to the RF signal from the adjacent printed line and cause circuit problems. Therefore, medical power supplies must choose products from big brands and companies with strong R&D capabilities. These products can guarantee good quality in design and production technology.
Shielding. In order to suppress the radiation generated by the switching power supply and eliminate the impact of electromagnetic interference on other electronic equipment in the medical device, the best way is to shield the magnetic field of the power supply, and then connect the entire shielding cover to the case or ground of the medical device. This is a way to get twice the result with half the effort.
Certification. At present, general medical equipment power supplies need to undergo electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference resistance tests such as FCC-B, CISPR22-B, EN55011550226120461000, etc. Selecting products that have completed these tests can not only ensure that there is no electromagnetic impact on other electronic components in the equipment, but also reduce the medical equipment R&D cycle and the inspection time before it is put on the market.
Size and high power density. In addition to the development of multi-function, high detection and adjustment accuracy, medical equipment is also developing in a smaller size and easy to carry. This requires that the power supply of medical equipment must have higher power output under the condition of smaller board area. Excelsys currently has a power density of up to 17W/in3 per unit area, and its volume is very small. It has now been successfully used in a variety of portable medical devices and vehicle-mounted medical devices. For more information on module power supplies, please contact the technical research and development team of China Electronics Huaxing.
Special applications. Most of the centralized power supply products on the market currently have standard outputs. Even if some power supply products can adjust the output through external circuits, the adjustment range is not large, and there are also problems with stability. What should we do if we encounter low voltage, high current or extremely high DC voltage? Of course, we can use customization, but the price is quite high. Can customers accept it? In such a situation, consider Excelsys, which can meet your requirements at a very low price.
Price. Nowadays, the price of medical equipment has gradually become transparent due to fierce competition, especially for some small medical equipment for home use, which has become very popular and accessible to the public. Therefore, this requires that the power supply, an important component of medical equipment, must have a competitive price. In this regard, Shenzhen China Electronics Huaxing Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., as the largest power module agent in China, can not only provide competitive technical solutions, but also rely on the strong support of suppliers to ensure that customers can obtain high-quality power module products at a very competitive price advantage.
There are so many problems in selecting power supplies for medical equipment. How to choose? If I tell you that there is a power supply product that can determine the power supply selection in just 5 minutes, would you believe it? It is Excelsys from Ireland.
Excelsys is a global leading power supply design and manufacturing company headquartered in Ireland. Its products are mainly used in the fields of medical, lighting, military, etc., especially in medical equipment. Currently, there are four main series of power supply products used in medical equipment, covering a power range of 200W-1450W and low noise and other options.
The company's configuration power supply products consist of two parts.
The first is the powerPacs. Its function is to rectify and correct the full range of input mains power and output 360V DC voltage. Currently, there are two categories of powerPacs with 9 series of products to choose from. The two categories of products provide 4-slot packages and 6-slot packages respectively. The 4-slot output power range is 200W-750W, and the 6-slot output power range is 400W-1340W. The 9 series cover different applications such as general applications, low noise, high temperature, medical certification, vibration, remote control, etc.
The second is the module (powerMods). The standard mounting parts can be directly installed on the chassis, and you can choose single or dual DC output combinations. There are 7 different output voltages and powers to choose from. The output can be adjusted between 1.5V-58V, and the modules can be connected in series and parallel in any combination, which is convenient for forming various special application systems.
The configuration and selection of this product is very simple. You only need to determine the overall power requirements and applicable conditions of the equipment, select the housing, and then select modules according to the power supply requirements of certain components in the equipment. Engineers only need 5 minutes to determine the power supply plan for the equipment. It is simple and efficient. Practical application cases
1. General medical laser repair equipment
The total power of the equipment is about 1,100W. To meet the medical equipment certification, four different DC outputs are required. The first is a high current 48V, 20A for the laser equipment. The second is an 18V for the LCD display, the third is a 5V for the control panel, and the last is a 12V for the system cooling fan. This customer looked for products from many brands but could not finalize because the power supply system was too complicated, the price was too high, and the space occupied was too large. Finally, he chose Excelsys, which solved the problem in a package of 40.5×260×127mm (1U height).
First, he selected an Xvite series XVD case with a maximum output power of 1,200W to meet medical certification and isolation voltage requirements. In terms of modules, he selected four Xg5 modules in parallel to output 48V, 24A (MAX) for lasers, one Xg7 module to adjust the output voltage to 18V for LCD displays, and one Xg8 module to adjust the output voltage to 5V and 12V for control panels and cooling fans. The model he selected was XVD555578. The power supply solution for a complex medical device was determined very simply.
2. Cancer treatment equipment
The main system of a cancer treatment device requires a 155V internal voltage supply and medical certification, an 18V display, a 48V motor and a 12V+5V control panel. Due to the special voltage requirements of this device, the power supply system used to be specially developed, which is quite complex and expensive, so two different models of chassis from Excelsys were selected for use. First, an XMC5550 power supply that meets the medical equipment safety standards is selected to connect three Xg5 modules in series to output a 155V voltage to power the main system of the device. Secondly, an ordinary industrial power supply XLC5780 is selected to power the display, motor and control panel. Such a complex system is now completed, and the cost is much lower than the previous design.
Seeing this, you may ask, what is its quality, is its price high, and is its delivery cycle long?
In terms of quality, this product has been successfully supplied to many equipment manufacturers in the world's top 500, and the quality is absolutely reliable. In terms of price, in the high-quality configuration power supply industry, this brand of products is currently the most cost-effective, and no brand can match it.
