With the continuous advancement of 5G and IoT technologies, more and more mobile electronic devices are pouring into the market, bringing great convenience to people's lives. However, as users become increasingly dependent on mobile devices, the demand for efficient charging is also increasing. Under this trend, PD chargers that can increase charging speed have quickly entered the fast lane, and the market development prospects are broad. In order to help manufacturers speed up the development of PD chargers, Dalian Dayou has launched a 65W PD fast charging solution based on the ST VIPERGAN65 chip. This solution has the characteristics of a compact design and can meet the fast charging needs of mobile devices such as mobile phones and notebooks.

VIPERGAN65 is a high-voltage converter that integrates a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller and a 650V enhanced GaN power transistor, capable of providing up to 65W of output power over a wide range. It also has low static power management that can be used in the system to achieve low standby power consumption. In addition, VIPERGAN65 has built-in functions to ensure safety and reliability, including input voltage feed-forward compensation, input/output overvoltage protection, current detection, and power-on and power-off protection, and all protections are in automatic restart mode.
In terms of appearance size, VIPERGAN65 adopts 5mm x 6mm QFN package, which has a small footprint and high integration, and can save material cost (BOM) while ensuring excellent power density. In addition, wide bandgap transistor technology can further improve energy efficiency and simplify thermal management design.

The primary side main control chip of this solution uses ST VIPERGNA65, the secondary side synchronous rectification controller uses ST SRK1001, the protocol chip uses ST STUSB476QTR, and the output interface is the mainstream USB Type-C. With the excellent performance of these devices, this solution can effectively improve the charging efficiency and help manufacturers quickly launch charging products with PD fast charging function.
