TDK Group has expanded its coupled inductor portfolio with the launch of the new EPCOS B82472D6* series of coupled inductors. The new series includes 9 products with an inductance range of 2 x 2.2 µH to 2 x 47 µH and a maximum rated current from 1.1 A to 4.3 A. Among them, the RoHS-compliant chokes are AEC-Q200 certified and have a large saturation current of up to 7.95 A; while the magnetically shielded inductors are only 7.3 x 7.3 x 4.8 mm in size and are suitable for a wide temperature range of -55 °C to +150 °C. The coupling coefficient of the inductor ranges from 97% to 99%, depending on the model.
Compact and rugged, these components are proven and widely used: in various non-isolated DC/DC converter topologies such as SEPIC, Cuk and Zeta; as transformers in flyback and multi-output buck topologies. In the latter application, coupled inductors are used to provide the secondary output voltage. In addition, with an insulation voltage of >500 V between the two windings, these components can be used as common-mode chokes in power supply lines.
