PrizmaCap™, ultra-thin and lightweight for high-temperature operation: Rutronik expands existing AVX supercapacitor portfolio
At high temperatures: AVX's innovative PrizmaCap™ has the largest operating temperature range currently available, suitable for temperatures ranging from -55°C to +90°C. This supercapacitor also features a very thin (starting at 0.8mm) and flexible housing. To avoid soldering temperature overloads on PrizmaCapTM, AVX Interconnect's 70-9159 series single-pole BTB contacts can be used to connect to the PCB.
PrizmaCap supercapacitors combine propylene carbonate (PC)-based electrolytic technology with a low profile design, allowing them to be used in high temperature and confined space applications where traditional supercapacitors cannot cope. For operating temperatures above 65°C, it is recommended to reduce the voltage from 2.1V to 1.1V to ensure a longer service life.
The best power source for wearable and handheld devices
PrizmaCap is best suited for wearable or handheld devices to support a primary battery with peak power or as an energy storage device in energy harvesting applications. In addition, the product can provide a potential solution for certain wireless devices such as Bluetooth keyboards, where the excellent fast charging capability of supercapacitor technology plays an important role.
Considering the volume of the product being developed, customers can customize the footprint, height, and capacitance on the circuit board. PrizmaCap is rated for 3.5/8.5/15F. Higher capacitance values and footprints have also been certified. Currently, PrizmaCap's lead time is 18 weeks.
