SCHURTER's range of current-compensated chokes for PCB mounting now features a vertical design. The new DKIV-1 series supports single-phase high-current applications. The vertical design reduces the footprint. The chokes are available in ferrite or nanocrystalline toroidal versions with rated currents from 10 A to 50 A.
Like all other aspects of electronic design, today’s power supply section is usually implemented by mounting discrete components on a printed circuit board. As components continue to integrate and form factors continue to shrink, thermal issues and high currents on the printed circuit board have become a major challenge. Traditional block filters may be a good solution to these challenges, but due to limited space, these filters also pose challenges due to their large package size. Therefore, mounting asymmetrical effective common mode chokes and capacitors on the printed circuit board is a better solution.
The DKIV-1 series of through-hole mounted chokes are ideal for multi-stage filter applications where both vertical chokes (DKIV) and horizontal chokes (DKIH) are used to reduce the mutual interference of the magnetic fields of the individual chokes.
The DKIV-1 series complies with the IEC 60938 standard and is rated at 300 VAC or 450 VDC, making it suitable for almost all applications, such as inverters for automation, photovoltaics, energy storage, electric vehicle charging stations and UPS systems. The series is certified with rated currents from 10 to 50 A at 300 VAC, which complies with IEC and UL standards; and rated currents from 10 to 50 A at 250 VAC, which also complies with CSA standards. The chokes are also ENEC and cURus certified and can operate normally over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +100°C.
