American scientists invent new algorithm that can double the charging speed of lithium-ion batteries
One of the major factors restricting the development of mobile devices is the battery. How to improve battery performance has always been a hot research direction. Now, researchers at the University of California, San Diego, have announced that they have designed a new battery algorithm. This algorithm can double the charging speed of lithium batteries, make fuel cells more efficient, and save 25% of production costs.
Compared with the traditional power management method of monitoring lithium battery current and power, the new battery algorithm will monitor the battery cell more accurately. The researchers did not disclose the specific algorithm points, but only said that in their test, it only takes 15 minutes to fully charge a flat lithium battery.
Currently, the project has received a $460,000 research grant from APPR-E, an agency under the U.S. Department of Energy, and a total of $9.6 million in sponsorship from Bosch and battery manufacturer Cobasys. The entire project is progressing smoothly. As for whether the technology that everyone is most concerned about will only exist in the laboratory, the project's chief researcher Scott Moura answered: "This technology will actually appear in the products that everyone uses."
