Battery heat dissipation problem Most of the current lamps use 12V valve-controlled maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, which use a tight assembly structure and have poor heat dissipation performance. They are also poor electrolyte batteries. When charging, the electrolyte temperature is too high, which will accelerate evaporation and cause the battery to lose water. It will also cause the plate to expand due to overheating and damage the shell.

Battery cooling problem

Most of the lamps now use 12V valve-regulated maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, which have a tight assembly structure and poor heat dissipation performance. They are also lean batteries. When charging, the electrolyte temperature is too high, which will accelerate evaporation and cause water loss in the battery. It will also cause the plates to expand due to overheating and damage the casing. More importantly, the battery will cause thermal runaway due to heat accumulation.

The battery is an important component in the lighting system, generally accounting for 10% to 20% of the total cost, and its performance directly affects the reliability and life of the system. Solar lamps are generally installed outdoors. When the ambient temperature exceeds 25°C, the life will be reduced by half for every 10°C increase in temperature. Therefore, maintaining a suitable temperature is very important for the battery life.

Battery weather resistance test

The design life of general lamps is about 15 years, and batteries are a weak link. The design life of 12V valve-controlled maintenance-free lead-acid batteries is generally five or six years, but in actual applications, they generally need to be replaced every two or three years, and some even end their life in less than a year.

For a garden lamp with a design life of 15 years, the battery is 12V/36Ah, and the cost is 0.6 yuan/VAh. If the life is two years, and the replacement cost is 200 yuan each time, the battery needs to be replaced at least 6 times during the life, and the additional cost of the battery alone is 2755.2 yuan. If the battery life can reach 5 years, it needs to be replaced 3 times during the life, and the additional cost is 1377.6 yuan, and the battery alone can save 1377.6 yuan
