A network analyzer is a testing device for electromagnetic wave energy. The network analyzer has many functions and is called the "King of Instruments". It is a multimeter in the radio frequency and microwave field. Whether it is as small as an inductor or as large as a giant radar, a network analyzer will be used to test its electrical performance during the production and testing process.


A network analyzer is a precision instrument capable of measuring extremely small errors. Basic Principles of Network Analysis Network Analysis Theory Network is a frequently used term with many modern definitions. In terms of network analysis, a network refers to a group of interconnected electronic components. One of the functions of a network analyzer is to quantify the impedance mismatch between two RF components to maximize power efficiency and signal integrity. Whenever an RF signal passes from one component to another, part of the signal is reflected while another part is transmitted. This is like the light from a light source hitting some kind of optical device, such as a lens. Among them, the lens is similar to an electronic network. Depending on the properties of the lens, some of the light will be reflected back to the source, while some of the light will be transmitted through. According to the law of conservation of energy, the sum of the energy of the reflected signal and the transmitted signal is equal to the energy of the original signal or the incident signal.


Network analyzer serviceable faults

The transmission measurement in the power-on pass-through state is normal, and the single-channel measurement is 3-5dBm lower.

The return loss curve is abnormal.

The transmission test curve in the power-on pass-through state is inversely parabolic.


Possible Causes:

It is most likely caused by the breakdown of the components of the receiver due to the intrusion of a large signal or strong static electricity.


It may be that the protector at the signal input end is burned out.

Preventive measures: Pre-test the signal under test connected to the test end of the network analyzer.

Improve anti-static facilities and procedures.
