Also known as insulation resistance meter, commonly known as megohmmeter, it is mainly used to measure insulation resistance. There are two types: manual and electric. The appearance of manual megohmmeter is as shown in the figure below.
Method for measuring the phase-to-phase insulation resistance of sheathed wires: short-circuit the two test leads l and e, and slowly shake the generator handle. The pointer should point to the 0 position. Connect the two test leads L and E to the two phase cores of the sheathed wire respectively, and shake the handle slowly to quickly.
When the pointer points to the zero position and you do not understand it, do not continue to shake the handle, indicating that the test product has a short circuit. If the pointer rises, shake the handle to the rated speed and read the measured value after stabilization.
The circuit must be cut off before measurement. Megohmmeters are not allowed to be used to measure the insulation resistance of live equipment to avoid accidents.
After the measurement is completed, wait until the pointer of the megohmmeter stops swinging and the test object is discharged before it can be removed to avoid damaging the meter.
