How to reduce pesticide residues in vegetables? Vegetables that are contaminated by pesticides or have pesticide residues exceeding the national standards shall not be sold or eaten. The pesticide residue detector tells you how to reduce pesticide residues in vegetables. Although food safety has received widespread attention in the past two years, such as the prohibition of the use of highly toxic pesticides, the area of pollution-free vegetables has been expanding, but there is a gap in knowledge and uneven development in some regions. In addition, the complexity and uncommonness of pesticide residue detection have caused some vegetables with excessive pesticides to be mixed into the market, and ordinary consumers are not aware of it. Therefore, some simple methods are proposed to reduce the pesticide residue pollution of vegetables sold on the market after harvest, which has a certain effect.
Methods to reduce pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables:
(i) Soaking in clean water.
Rinse the purchased vegetables with water 2-3 times, and then soak them in clean water for 1-2 hours to remove the pesticides remaining on the surface. You can also add a small amount of detergent to the water and soak for 10 minutes, which can transfer most of the pesticides on the surface to the detergent solution. After soaking, rinse with clean water 2-3 times.
(ii) Soaking in baking soda.
Many organophosphorus pesticides are easily decomposed in an alkaline environment. The method is to put a small spoonful of baking soda in the water and then soak the fruits and vegetables for 15 minutes, then remove them and wash them with clean water.
(iii) Peeling of fruits and vegetables.
Some organophosphorus, organomercury and pyrethroid pesticides have low solubility in water, but are easily soluble in organic solvents or waxy solvents. Fruits and vegetables have wax that easily absorbs pesticides, so they should be peeled before eating.
(IV) High temperature heating method:
As the temperature rises, aminomethyl ester pesticides can decompose faster, and heating can be used to remove pesticides. The method is to first clean the surface of the vegetables and then put them in boiling water for 2-5 minutes. When they are taken out, more than 90% of the residual pesticides can be removed.
(V) Acid soaking method:
Most pesticides and insecticides will lose their toxicity when they come into contact with acid. You can first wash the vegetables and then put a small amount of vinegar in the water, soak the vegetables for 10 minutes, take them out and rinse them clean, which can reduce the pesticide residues.
After pesticides are applied, some of them will be attached to the surface of crops, and some will fall into the soil, water sources, and the atmosphere, forming pesticide residues through direct contamination of crops, or absorption of crops from the environment contaminated by pesticides, or accumulation through the food chain and bioaccumulation effect. Although pesticide residues are an unavoidable product after pesticide application, they have attracted worldwide attention in various possible ways, endangering the quality and safety of agricultural products, the safety of humans and animals, and damaging the ecological environment. Pesticide residues will cause nutrient imbalance in agricultural products and a decline in sensory quality.
Pesticide residue pollution is quite obvious in my country, and we are also seriously harmed by pesticide residues. Moreover, the residues formed by pesticide absorption through water bodies also have a lasting impact on the safety of agricultural products. There are also pesticide residues in water bodies, which directly harm our health.
