Do you know how to detect the voltage regulation value of a Zener diode? Let Lingxun give you a brief introduction. Since the Zener diode works in the reverse breakdown state, its voltage regulation value can be measured with a multimeter.
There are two commonly used methods.
1. Simple test method
This method only requires a multimeter. The method is: set the multimeter to Rx10k and accurately adjust to zero. Connect the red test lead to the positive pole of the voltage regulator tube to be tested, and the black test lead to the negative pole of the tube to be tested. When the pointer moves to a certain position, read its stable data from the DC 10V voltage scale of the multimeter, and then calculate the voltage regulation value using the following formula: measured voltage regulation value (V) = (10V-reading value) x1.5. This method can be used to test voltage regulator tubes with a voltage regulation value below 15V.
2. External power supply test method
When measuring, first adjust the output voltage of the voltage stabilizer to 15V, and use the voltage range of the multimeter to directly measure the voltage value across ZD. The reading is the voltage stabilizer value of the voltage stabilizer diode. If the measured value is 15V, it is possible that the diode has not reversely broken down. At this time, the output voltage of the voltage stabilizer can be increased to 20V or above, and then measured according to the above method.
