Correctly selecting the installation point and correctly installing the split electromagnetic flowmeter are very important links. If mistakes are made during the installation process, the measurement accuracy will be affected at the least, and the service life of the flowmeter will be affected at the worst, and the flowmeter may even be damaged.

1. Installation requirements for split electromagnetic flowmeter

1. The split electromagnetic flowmeter has certain requirements on the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections of the installation point, otherwise it will affect the measurement accuracy.

2. If there is a tapered pipe upstream of the installation point of the split electromagnetic flowmeter, there should be a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 15d upstream of the sensor, and a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 5d downstream.

3. If there is a gradually expanding pipe upstream of the installation point of the split electromagnetic flowmeter, there should be a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 18d upstream of the sensor, and a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 5d downstream.

4. There is a 90° elbow or down-shaped joint upstream of the installation point of the split electromagnetic flowmeter. There should be a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 20d upstream of the sensor and a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 5d downstream.

5. If there are two 90° elbows on the same plane upstream of the installation point of the split electromagnetic flowmeter, there should be a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 25d upstream of the sensor and a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 5d downstream.

6. If there are two 90° elbows on different planes upstream of the installation point of the split electromagnetic flowmeter, there should be a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 40d upstream of the sensor and a straight pipe section of equal diameter of not less than 5d downstream.

2. Special precautions for installation of split electromagnetic flowmeter

1. The sensor of the split electromagnetic flowmeter should be installed vertically, and the fluid should flow from bottom to top to ensure that the solid and liquid are in a mixed state. The reason is that solids (silt, small stone particles, etc.) in the medium are prone to precipitation. In addition, if there are fish and weeds in the pipeline, the movement of fish in the pipeline will cause the flowmeter output to swing back and forth; the swinging back and forth of weeds hanging near the electrode will also cause the flowmeter output to be unstable. Set a metal filter at the upstream inlet of the flowmeter to prevent fish and weeds from entering the measuring tube.

2. Improper operation of the pipeline setting to prevent negative pressure of the split electromagnetic flowmeter will cause negative pressure in the sensor. When the valves upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are closed at the same time, if the temperature of the fluid is higher than the air temperature, it will shrink after cooling, causing the pressure in the pipe to form a negative pressure. Negative pressure causes the lining and the metal conduit to peel off, causing electrode leakage.

Add a negative pressure prevention valve near the split electromagnetic flowmeter, open the valve to connect to the atmospheric pressure to prevent negative pressure from being generated in the sensor. When a vertical pipeline is connected to the downstream of the split electromagnetic flowmeter, if the upstream valve of the flow sensor is used to close or adjust the flow, negative pressure will be formed in the sensor measuring tube. In order to prevent negative pressure, back pressure needs to be added or a downstream valve needs to be used to adjust and close the flow.

Split electromagnetic flowmeters require appropriate maintenance space. Large-caliber flowmeters are often installed in instrument wells. For the convenience of pipeline installation, wiring, inspection and maintenance, appropriate space needs to be reserved. For the convenience of observation, wiring and maintenance, the instrument should be installed at a certain height from the ground to facilitate cleaning and installation.

I hope the above analysis is helpful to you. Because only when it is used correctly can it play its role. And we will provide you with this information in time. Ensure that you and the product are used normally. So please consider ABG instrument when purchasing the instrument.
