Infrared thermometers are fast and accurate in tracing leaks
. Pipelines in single polymer injection wells often leak and perforate. Some of the leak points are 30 to 100 cm below the cement floor inside and outside the polymer injection station.
In the past, people usually followed the "overflow point" of the mixed liquid to smash the cement floor to find the "leak point", which often resulted in half the result with twice the effort. The technicians of the Gudong Sanqi Center of Shengli Oilfield used the temperature-sensitive characteristics of infrared thermometers to quickly and accurately find the pipeline leak point.
Generally, the mixture of polymer mother liquor and sewage is transported to the wellhead in the polymer injection well pipeline, with a temperature of about 40°C. The mixed liquid from the leak point migrates along the underground porosity with the maximum transfer of more than 10 meters, and finally overflows from the weakest point, that is, the overflow point. The temperature of the mixed liquid gradually decreases during the transfer process, that is, the overflow point has the lowest temperature, and the leak point has the highest temperature.
When actually finding a leak, as long as the handheld infrared thermometer moves from the overflow point along the path of rising temperature, the leak point is found when the highest temperature point is found. Multiple leak detection tests have proven that this method is time-saving and labor-saving, with 100% accuracy, and can greatly reduce the scope of smashing cement floors. This year, infrared thermometers were used to detect leaks in 15 wells, shortening the pipeline processing time by 6 hours per well on average, and increasing the polymer solution injection volume by 680 cubic meters.
Infrared thermometers can also be used to monitor strong current places such as control cabinets and distribution boards in the station, accurately and timely discover abnormal conditions such as virtual connection and looseness at the AC contactor wiring points. The operation is simple and safe, and does not affect the normal operation of the equipment.
