The development of LabVIEW
LabVIEW is a software product of National Instruments (NI). In October 1986, NT officially released LabVIEW 1.0. Subsequently, NI's LabVIEW development team continued to invest in development projects, made major improvements to the editor, graphic display and other details, and released LabVIEW 2.0 in January 1990. In 1992, LabVIEW was ported from the Macintosh platform to the Windows platform, and in January 1993, LabVIEW 3.0 was officially released. At this time, LabVIEW has become a large-scale application software and system containing thousands of VIs. It has been recognized as a relatively complete software development environment and quickly occupied the market.
In April 1996, LabVIEW 4.0 was released, which realized the independent execution of the application compiler (LabVlEWApplication Builder) and extended it to the data acquisition DAQ channel. LabVIEW 5, released in February 1998, completely revised the previous versions and rewrote the editor and execution system. Although it increased the complexity, it also greatly enhanced the reliability of LabVIEW. In June 1999, the LabVIEW development team released the branch for real-time applications - LabVIEW RT version.
In June 2000, LabVIEW 6 was released. LabVIEW 6 has new user interface features (such as 3D display), extended functions and memory optimization at all levels. Another important function is the powerful VI server. LabVIEW 7 Express, released in May 2003, introduced waveform data types and some more interactive, configuration-based functions, making user application development easier, greatly simplifying the development of measurement and automation application tasks, and expanding the scope of LabVIEW use to support hardware such as PDA and FPGA. LabVIEW 8 was released in 2005 to provide support for the development and release of various applications distributed on different computing targets. In 2006, NI released the LabVIEW 20th Anniversary
Edition - LabVIEW 8.2 in October of that year to celebrate and commemorate the 20th anniversary of the official launch of LabVIEW. This version added two major functions, simulation block diagram and MathScript node, which enhanced LabVIEW's position in the design market; at the same time, the simplified Chinese version was launched for the first time, which reduced the difficulty of learning and using it for Chinese scientific and technological personnel.
