In actual measurement, when it is necessary to measure a large number of similar primitives on the same workpiece, if each primitive is measured manually, it will take a lot of time and effort. The VM series automatic image measuring instrument independently developed by Tianjue Company has developed a primitive copy function specifically for this demand. Quality inspectors can use this function to greatly improve measurement efficiency.

In measurement, there are 3 operations to choose from for the advanced copy function: translation copy, rotation copy and mirror copy. The following describes how to use these functions in turn.

1. Translation copy

When a large number of primitives of the same type are regularly distributed in parallel, translation copy can be used to complete the measurement.

For example: For the workpiece shown in Figure 1, it is necessary to measure all complete circles in 5 rows and 6 columns. It is known that the distance between the circles is equidistant (center distance: X=3mm, Y=3mm), then the following steps can be used to quickly program and perform the measurement.

1. First measure the first circle on the upper left (marked by the orange circle in Figure 2), then use the translation copy function to copy 5 circles to the right and 4 circles downward;

2. Right-click on the first primitive and select "Copy Primitive" from the menu. A window as shown in Figure 2 will appear;

3. In the Copy window, set the X translation to "3mm" (the X-axis distance between circles), and fill in "5" for the number of copies. After pressing OK, 5 circles will be marked to the right of the first circle in the figure (as shown in Figure 3);

4. Select these six circles and copy them. Enter "3" for Y in the copy window and "4" for the number of copies. Click "Confirm" and the screen will appear as shown in Figure 4.

At this point, the software program has established a measurement process in the programming window. Just click the "Run" button in the task control area, and the computer will automatically measure all circles and display the measurement results.

2. Rotational replication

When similar primitives on the workpiece are distributed at the same angle, rotational replication can be used for rapid measurement.

For example: As shown in Figure 5, 4 circles on the image need to be measured.

First, extract the center circle and establish a coordinate system with the center of the circle as the origin;

1. Extract a circle to be measured, as shown in Figure 6;

2. Right-click on the circle, select "Primitive Copy", and select "Rotate Copy", enter the rotation angle of 90 degrees, and the number of copies is 3; you will get the primitive shown in Figure 8, and you can start automatic measurement. [page]

3. Mirror Copy

When a part of the primitives in the workpiece is distributed in a mirror image with another part of the primitives, the mirror copy method can be used for measurement. The symmetry axis of the mirror can be selected from the X-axis, Y-axis, or a straight line.

For example:

First, construct the symmetry center line of the two circles on the symmetry axis;

1. Extract all primitives on one side of the symmetry axis;

2. Select all primitives on one side of the symmetry axis, right-click, select "Primitive Copy" in the menu, select "Mirror Copy" in the dialog box, set the copy method to "Specify Line", and select the symmetry axis line (here is line 11); after obtaining the copy result shown in Figure 12, the computer will automatically measure and display the measurement results.
