Infineon’s XENSIV™ mmWave radar sensors can be used in vehicles to help build highly reliable smart cockpit monitoring systems
[June 1, 2022, Munich, Germany] As spring arrives and summer arrives, the weather is getting hotter. As the temperature rises, the temperature inside a car parked outdoors can quickly soar to 70°C under strong sunlight, posing a life-threatening risk to animals and children left in the car. Now, the XENSIV™ automotive millimeter-wave radar sensor (BGT60ATR24C) launched by Infineon Technologies AG (FSE code: IFX / OTCQX code: IFNNY) can be applied to the intelligent cockpit monitoring system (ICMS) to detect slight movements and vital signs of babies and animals left in the car and issue an alarm. In addition, this compact and cost-effective chipset can also be used for many applications such as gesture sensing of front-end radar, high-resolution frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar ranging, short-range sensing operation, and concealed sensing in the radar antenna cover.
XENSIV™ BGT60ATR24C
The XENSIV™ BGT60ATR24C automotive millimeter wave radar sensor uses a small package to achieve ultra-wideband FMCW operation with a frequency of up to 4 GHz. Sensor configuration and data acquisition are completed through a digital interface. Such an integrated chip can support independent data acquisition, while the optimized power management mode ensures low power consumption. This solution is optimized for size and space, with two transmit channels (TX) and four receive channels (RX) built in for excellent thermal management.
In addition, the radar sensor can also support other functions such as seat belt reminders. Thanks to this, this economical and practical solution further improves the safety of passengers. The sensor meets the AEC-Q100/101 standard and can be used in many automotive applications.
