August 8, 2023 – Mouser Electronics, a global authorized agent of semiconductors and electronic components that focuses on introducing new products, will start selling Murata’s Type2BP ultra-wideband (UWB) module from now on. This module is ideal for wireless communication functions in larger infrastructures, including access control, indoor anchors and payment terminals, as well as in consumer products such as televisions and game consoles.
Murata Type2BP UWB modules are ideally suited for the growing ecosystem of spatial context awareness in IoT devices while simplifying wireless development by minimizing the RF expertise required for a variety of wireless applications. The Type2BP module is an ultra-small (6.6 mm × 5.8 mm × 1.2 mm) UWB module equipped with NXP Semiconductors' SR150 UWB chipset, clocks, filters, and peripheral components. This module features low current, supports channels 5 and 9, extended safe ranging range, and various antenna configurations (3D Angle of Arrival (AOA) or 2D AOA).
The Type2BP UWB module also features integrated physical layer (PHY) and media access controller (MAC) functionality that meets the FiRa™ specification to ensure interoperability with a wider range of UWB devices.
The Murata Type2BP UWB module also has a companion UWB-Module-EVK evaluation kit (also available at Mouser). The kit includes an integrated evaluation board equipped with the Type2BP UWB module, NXP QN9090 Bluetooth Low Energy SoC (system on chip) and USB/JTAG interface. The kit is powered via a USB cable on the PC side and also includes an onboard PCB-style integrated patch antenna, power circuitry, SWD connector and level shifter. This development kit is approved by Apple® for the evaluation of UWB accessories that utilize Apple's Nearby Interaction framework for spatial positioning.
