MAX78002 is an upgraded model of MAX78000. It mainly upgrades the storage and frequency of CNN accelerator and can support video AI applications. At the same time, support for MIPI and USB has been added to peripherals.
For the development process, MAX78000 supports deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch, TensorFlow, and Keras, as well as mainstream embedded development tools such as Keil and IAR, and can easily import trained neural networks into MCUs.
In addition, ADI has also launched various data sheets, application notes, evaluation kits, reference designs, teaching videos, tools, routine reference materials, and corresponding development evaluation kits of various specifications, and will also launch various accessories in the future , to continuously strengthen the MAX78000 ecosystem.
At the same time, ADI has also developed the camera module MAXREFDES178 based on the MAX78000 reference design for users to evaluate the performance of the MAX78000 in AI inference. In a very small volume, multiple components such as cameras, microphones, displays, buttons, and batteries are integrated.
Smart edge MCUs are here now
Xin Yi said that in the first few years when AI became popular, software was mainly used to calculate CNN, because hardware semiconductors had not yet reached a mature level of commercialization. However, with a number of companies such as ADI building MCUs with hardware CNN, low-end Smart edge solutions with low cost, low power consumption and small size can quickly cover various scenarios and gain wide recognition in the market.
In fact, in the more than two years since the launch of MAX78000, it has been used in practical applications including wildfire monitoring, pipe leakage sound monitoring, CBM predictive maintenance monitoring, smart helmets, garbage classification, smart speakers, egg counting, and vehicle refrigerator item identification. Waiting for various fields, it can be said that the intelligent edge has truly realized everything that is impossible, only the unexpected step.
