World Internet of Things Expo held, Qualcomm joins hands with industry partners to promote the value of 5G Internet of Things

In recent years, 5G has become a hot topic in the field of science and technology. As a new generation of mobile communication technology, 5G was originally designed for the Internet of Everything. It is accelerating its expansion from mobile phones to thousands of industries, empowering the innovation and development of various industries. From October 22 to 25, 2021, the 2021 World Internet of Things Expo was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu. During the Expo, Wuxi Municipal Health Commission, Wuxi Emergency Center, Qualcomm, and Wuxi Mobile officially reached a four-party strategic cooperation to promote the application of 5G and other technologies in the medical field and promote the development of intelligent medical care. At the same time, with the joint promotion of all parties in the industry, technologies such as 5G, AI, and IoT are accelerating their integration and application in the fields of Internet of Vehicles and Industrial Internet, creating value for economic and social development.

Multiple parties work together to empower smart healthcare with 5G

5G has the characteristics of ultra-high speed, ultra-large connection, and ultra-low latency, which can provide better technical support for application innovation in the medical industry. For example, the "5G+Smart Emergency" project promoted by the four parties this time, through the 5G smart network engine equipment equipped with Qualcomm X55 chip on the new emergency vehicle, can directly transmit the patient's vital signs, vehicle OBD and on-site audio and video data to the Municipal Health Commission Data Center through the 5G emergency network to ensure the security and reliability of medical data. The hospital can obtain patient and ambulance information in real time and formulate rescue plans in advance. At the same time, the ambulance can also send priority control instructions on the road to realize the signal priority control of the ambulance, providing patients with a seamless medical treatment green channel before and after the hospital. At present, the four parties have innovatively built a municipal "5G chest pain treatment platform" with full coverage, full participation, and full management in Wuxi, supporting medical treatment work with information technology, and jointly improving the medical emergency treatment service capabilities.

5G+Smart Emergency Cooperation Signing Ceremony

Qian Kun, senior vice president of Qualcomm, attended the signing ceremony of the 5G+ smart emergency cooperation. He said that the application of 5G in smart emergency is very promising and can bring very valuable industry applications to the medical field. The 5G smart emergency system jointly promoted by Qualcomm, Wuxi Municipal Health Commission, Wuxi Emergency Center, and Wuxi Mobile is closely related to people's lives, and the new ambulance application is also very representative. In the future, Qualcomm will continue to support Wuxi Municipal Health Commission and 120 Emergency Center to work together to expand 5G applications in the fields of medical care and health protection. At the same time, through the Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 platform, it supports a wider range of IoT application scenarios and brings more extreme 5G connection support to vertical industries.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 is the world's first modem and RF system that complies with the 3GPP Release 16 specification launched by Qualcomm in February this year. It uses an upgradeable software architecture and can continuously support the latest features and functions of 5G, which will further accelerate the expansion of 5G to many industries. Prior to this, Qualcomm also cooperated extensively with Chinese industrial ecosystem partners to promote the implementation of 5G, AI, IoT and other technologies in industries such as industry and agriculture, boost the digital transformation of the industry, and demonstrate the huge innovation opportunities in the digital age.

Promoting the interconnection of all things and accelerating the implementation of "5G+IoT"

At the 2021 World Internet of Things Wuxi Summit held during the expo, Qualcomm and the Wuxi Municipal Government signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation. In the future, the two parties will deepen their cooperative relationship in the fields of 5G-based Internet of Vehicles, smart emergency rescue, industrial applications, etc., and carry out cooperation in the fields of 5G-oriented smart emergency rescue, 5G-oriented Internet of Vehicles, and 5G-oriented industrial applications.

In September 2019, Qualcomm completed the acquisition of all shares of RF360 Holdings Singapore Pte. Ltd., and Quanxun RF Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., located in Wuxi High-tech Zone (Xinwu District), has since become an important manufacturing base for Qualcomm in China. In May this year, the Qualcomm-Quanxun RF Phase II project started construction in Wuxi High-tech Zone, which will further expand production scale and technical capabilities and continue to provide product support for the implementation of "5G+Internet of Things".

Qualcomm China Chairman Meng Pu delivered a speech at the 2021 World Internet of Things Wuxi Summit

Meng Pu, chairman of Qualcomm China, said in a speech at the 2021 World Internet of Things Wuxi Summit that Qualcomm will use its extensive product portfolio and technical expertise to assist all links of the industry through close collaboration with upstream and downstream of the industry chain and support for the developer ecosystem, and jointly promote the application of the Internet of Things in various vertical fields, making everything intelligently connected in the 5G era.

In fact, whether in terms of technology itself or industrial cooperation, 5G and IoT technologies are the best practice areas of "close collaboration" emphasized by Meng Pu, Chairman of Qualcomm China. In practice, Qualcomm plays the role of a "digital" connector, sinking into the industry and industrial chain, and helping Chinese manufacturers achieve good development in both domestic and foreign markets by promoting innovation and building an ecosystem. In 2020, Qualcomm joined more than 20 leading manufacturers to jointly advocate the launch of the "5G IoT Innovation Plan" to help Chinese companies plan open science and technology cooperation with a global perspective.

Back in 2018, Qualcomm also launched the "5G Pilot Program" with Chinese companies , and worked with partners to explore new mobile applications and experiences brought by 5G. A few years later, Qualcomm's "5G Pilot Program" and "5G Internet of Things Innovation Program" were successively rated as "Technological Innovation Service Demonstration Cases" by the China International Fair for Trade in Services, and Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modem and RF system were also rated as "World Internet Leading Scientific and Technological Achievements" by the 2021 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit. Qualcomm has played an active role in promoting the transformation of cutting-edge technology applications and driving the "stock + incremental" dual growth of the ecosystem.

During the 2021 World Internet of Things Expo, Qualcomm also shared the latest progress in the development of intelligent connected cars and IoT applications. Li Yan, senior director of technical standards at Qualcomm Technologies, said at the 2nd China (Wuxi) Internet of Vehicles Industry Development Summit Forum on Internet of Vehicles Technology Innovation and Leading Applications that Qualcomm uses technologies such as connectivity and computing to deepen its presence in the automotive industry and promote automotive technology innovation. Over the past 20 years, Qualcomm has worked extensively with the automotive ecosystem, and more than 150 million vehicles worldwide have adopted Qualcomm's automotive solutions. Li Junjie, product marketing director at Qualcomm Technologies, shared at the China Mobile Internet of Things Developers Conference that connectivity and computing are crucial to the Internet of Things, and Qualcomm has launched corresponding product portfolios in both aspects: from products specifically launched for connectivity, such as the Qualcomm 315 5G IoT modem, to products such as the Qualcomm QCS8250 that have stronger computing capabilities in addition to connectivity capabilities. In addition, Qualcomm has launched a number of leading 5G+AI networking solutions, from entry-level to flagship, to help accelerate the expansion of the global 5G IoT ecosystem.

Looking ahead, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China will accelerate the construction of a new development pattern with domestic circulation as the main body and domestic and international dual circulations mutually reinforcing each other, and industrial digitalization and digital industrialization supported by technologies such as 5G and IoT will become an important area to accelerate the internal and external circulation of the economy. As a company at the junction of the "dual circulation", Qualcomm will continue to carry out extensive and in-depth cooperation with Chinese industrial ecosystem partners to accelerate the implementation of 5G, AI, IoT, etc. in various industries, and jointly promote the high-quality development of China's economy and industry.
