Samsung has been developing high-end augmented reality glasses for some time. The company gave a demo of AR glasses at CES 2020, but there has been little information about their commercial launch. 91mobiles has discovered a new patent application at the Korean Intellectual Property Office with images that may show what the final product will look like. The description mentions "head-mounted device", so we are pretty sure these are AR glasses. According to the description in the patent, it will have a metal structure and a synthetic finish.
The Samsung patent image shows a typical glasses-like design, which will make it easier for the wearer to move around. You can see a band above the lenses, which will house the dual front-facing cameras and the usual sensors. There is also an extended nose pad for a comfortable fit, and the legs of the AR glasses are slightly angular. The thick frame may house a variety of components, which may be the processor, memory, Wi-Fi transceiver, and possibly cellular connectivity. Unfortunately, the patent document does not reveal any technical aspects of the device, only the design.
As with the general idea of AR glasses, Samsung's AR glasses are supposed to overlay virtual content on the actual world you see around you. While the AR glasses patent appears to show a final design, it's unclear if Samsung plans to officially release the product.
