Some data on the latest progress of 5G
On December 24, at a press conference of the State Council, Wen Ku , spokesperson and director of the Information and Communications Development Department, said that over the past year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has vigorously promoted the development and application of 5G and accelerated the construction of 5G networks, achieving relatively good results .
Network construction is progressing steadily. This year, about 580,000 new 5G base stations have been added, and 330,000 5G base stations have been jointly built and shared , achieving the goal of 5G coverage in cities and prefectures set at the beginning of the year. From January to November, the domestic market shipments of 5G mobile phones reached 144 million units, accounting for 51.4% of mobile phone shipments; a total of 199 new 5G mobile phone models were launched, accounting for 47.7% of new models. The number of users has grown rapidly, and the number of 5G terminal connections has exceeded 200 million . The pace of application implementation has accelerated.
On December 18, GSA released the 2020 Global 5G Development Report, which also revealed some global 5G progress data:
1. There are 135 operators in the world that have commercialized 5G in 58 countries and regions , including 86 in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), 35 in APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), and 15 in the Americas. The number of LTE (4G) networks has also reached 806 .
2. 109 manufacturers worldwide
have released 519 5G terminals
, of which 303 are already on the market
.
3. There are more than 20 types of 5G terminals worldwide, including 252 mobile phones and 267 multi-form smart terminals.
4. It is estimated that by 2022, the number of spectrum allocations involving 700MHz will reach

5. It is estimated that by 2021, there will be more than 500 5G commercial terminals and more than 200 5G commercial networks worldwide .
