300+ customers have passed verification, Changsha 16 billion semiconductor project plans second phase construction

According to a report by Changsha Evening News on April 12, the main products of Changsha Sanan Semiconductor Industrial Project have been sent to 500 customers, and more than 300 customers have passed the verification. Currently, Sanan Semiconductor is planning the second phase of the project.

According to the information, the total investment of the Changsha San'an Semiconductor Industry Project is 16 billion yuan. It mainly builds a third-generation semiconductor full-industry chain production and R&D base with independent intellectual property rights based on wide bandgap materials such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride. After the project is put into production, it can be widely used in new energy vehicles, high-speed locomotives, aerospace and wireless (5G) communications.

The project will be constructed in two phases. Phase I will mainly include the construction of silicon carbide crystal growth, substrates, epitaxy, chips, device packaging and other plant buildings and related supporting facilities. After the project is fully completed and put into production, it will form two parallel silicon carbide research and development and production full industrial chain production lines. The products will be high-quality, low-cost, high-stability silicon carbide substrates and various devices.

On June 23, 2021, the first batch of factory buildings of the Changsha Sanan Semiconductor Project were put into production. It is the first full-industry chain production line of silicon carbide in my country and the third in the world.

At present, the first phase of the Hunan Sanan Semiconductor Industrial Park project has achieved full integration of the mass production line from "silicon carbide crystal growth" to "device packaging and testing", and will mass-produce a full range of silicon carbide Schottky diode products in November 2021.

According to a report by Changsha Evening News at the beginning of this year, Hunan Sanan's silicon carbide diodes have achieved mass production and shipment, and its automotive-grade diodes have received orders from automotive industry customers one after another.
