Dialog will attend the Asian Power Technology Development Forum (December 25, Shenzhen)

The 12th Asian Power Technology Development Forum (and 21Dianyuan Shenzhen High-Performance Power Technology Sharing and Practical Technology Seminar) will be held at the Shenzhen Metro Crowne Plaza Hotel on December 25, 2021.


Dialog Semiconductor (a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas) will give a keynote speech at this forum and demonstrate fast charging solutions on site. Topic: A new generation of AC/DC solutions to help high-performance fast charging power supplies -- high power density, small size, high efficiency, wide protocol support, ultra-low standby power consumption, and low-cost power supply solutions


Abstract:

Today, mobile devices including high-end smartphones and tablets have put forward higher requirements for AC/DC portable adapters, such as fast charging with higher power, higher power density (HPD) for miniaturization, higher efficiency, wider protocol support, ultra-low standby power consumption and low cost. In addition, different mobile device applications have different power levels and system performance requirements.


This presentation will introduce a new generation of AC/DC fast charging solutions to address these challenges. First, we will focus on a zero voltage switching (ZVS) platform based on Dialog's proprietary adaptive digital control technology, optimized for high power density AC/DC adapters from 45W to 100W and higher. The platform consists of two chipsets: (a) iW9801 and iW709, supporting USB PD3.0/PPS protocol; (b) iW9802 and iW72x supporting D+/D- based protocol. Second, a new quasi-resonant (QR) solution, the iW9860 and iW760 chipsets, will be introduced, which are optimized for high power density AC/DC adapters from 15W to 45W and higher, supporting USB PD3.0/PPS protocol, and can achieve high performance including zero standby power consumption (<5mW in a typical 25W USB PD travel adapter design) at the lowest system cost. The new solution also has a built-in high switching frequency driver that can directly drive GaN devices to achieve ultra-thin portable adapter design. This presentation will introduce the main system architecture and functions of the platform, and show the relevant demonstration board and experimental data on site.
