Introduction:Using DSP TMS320C6711 and ARM920T, a secure video surveillance system supporting H.264 encryption is designed and implemented. A design scheme for a secure video encryption system combining the Advanced Encryption Standard AES with H.264 is proposed and implemented on the ARM-Linux embedded platform. The problems of video data confidentiality in the video surveillance system are solved, and the experimental results of the improved encryption algorithm are given. [Keywords] H.264; Linux; video surveillance; video encryption; With the improvement of social security awareness, more and more departments are beginning to use video surveillance systems. Some video surveillance system users, such as government agencies, defense agencies, and industrial and mining enterprises, often use video surveillance content involving state secrets, military intelligence, corporate secrets, etc., so the video content must be encrypted before it can be transmitted on the network. Due to the need for real-time transmission and access of video data, the use of encryption and decryption algorithms cannot cause excessive delays in transmission and access. H.264 is the latest international video data compression standard [2], and its compression efficiency is also the highest. With similar image quality, it is nearly twice as efficient as H.263 and MPEG4, greatly enhancing the image compression efficiency. Therefore, this paper selects H.264 as the compression standard for video surveillance systems. Aiming at the application requirements of some departments for high video security, this paper proposes an embedded security video surveillance solution that integrates DSP and embedded ARM microcontrollers. This solution combines new technologies in video encryption and embedded systems to design and implement a security video surveillance system with good security performance and high efficiency. The embedded design also has the advantages of high reliability, small size, and strong environmental adaptability. Experiments show that the improved encryption scheme used by the system has a good encryption effect on H.264 video streams and can meet the real-time requirements of video.
