Ultrasonic diagnostic technology has the advantages of being safe, painless, harmless, simple, widely adaptable, intuitive, clear, repeatable, strong in soft tissue identification, high diagnostic accuracy, flexible and inexpensive. It has become the preferred technology in contemporary medical image diagnosis. Ophthalmic ultrasound diagnostic instrument is a specialized device in ultrasound diagnosis. It can be used to diagnose diseases such as retinal detachment, intraocular and orbital tumors, vitreous opacities, hemorrhage, fundus lesions and intraocular foreign bodies. In recent years, with the rapid development of digital signal processing, hardware and software design capabilities, and materials science, ophthalmic ultrasound diagnostic instruments have made great progress in many aspects. Among them, digital ophthalmic ultrasound diagnostic instruments are the focus of development. Starting from the principle and design of ultrasound diagnostic instrument, this paper focuses on describing the hardware and software structure of the system, and introduces the various sub-modules for digital processing of ultrasonic signals. In combination with the characteristics of various digital signal processing methods, the structural characteristics, programming principles and design process of the off-the-shelf programmable gate array are briefly introduced. On this basis, the design of FIR filter is discussed in detail and implemented in FPGA, which is applied to various sub-modules of signal processing. Finally, the effectiveness of signal processing at each stage of the system was verified by constructing an experimental model. The normal human eyeball field and orbit were tested and good echo signals were obtained. This design has good real-time processing capabilities for ophthalmic high-frequency ultrasonic echo signals, meets the design requirements, and has good application prospects.
