6599 schematic diagram The L6599 is a dual-terminal controller chip designed in a series resonant half-bridge topology. The chip supports comprehensive protection and high-reliability power supply design, especially suitable for power supplies for LCD and plasma TVs, high-end adapters for portable computers and game consoles, 80+initiative-compatible ATX power supplies and switching power supplies for telecommunications equipment. The L6599 provides a typical peak current handling capability of 0.6A output current and 1.2A input current for two gate drivers, allowing designers to set the operating frequency using an external programmable oscillator. Non-linear soft start prevents inrush current and minimizes output voltage overshoot. The device also has a controllable burst mode operation that can significantly reduce the average switching frequency and related losses under light load and no-load conditions. Using this resonant controller, designers can even meet energy-saving requirements in power correction systems. During burst mode operation, a dedicated output enables the IC to shut down the pre-regulator of the power factor corrector (PFC) to reduce the no-load power consumption of this part of the circuit.
