This paper analyzes the frequency domain characteristics and time-varying characteristics of the RCS (radar cross-section area) of aircraft wakes in clear sky, derives the LMP (local maximum potential) detector for coherent Doppler radar detection of aircraft wakes and its analytical expressions for detection probability and false alarm probability, and on this basis derives the radar equation for wake detection. The simulation analysis results show that the performance of vertical incidence wake detection is generally better than oblique incidence detection; when the radar observation time is long, the oblique incidence detection performance improves with the increase of the radar range resolution unit; for aircraft wakes with a unit length RCS of -80~-60 dBm2/m, the radar detection distance can reach 30~100km.
